What would you add?
Hey guys!! My hubby, kids, and I just moved into a new place and are ready to make it our own, starting with the living room. I painted the sofa myself, based on the last inspo pic.
We both love music (especially punk, metal, and EDM), books, oddities, art, plants, and crystals/stones.
We really want to bring out our inner child with our decor; like bright neon and dark colors, maximalist, dopamine, a little Y'alternative/metal head, and a smidge of boho.
the couch: It used to be this yellow color that made me think of kitchen grease 🤢 so I painted it this beautiful peacock color (it looks more like the color of the sofa in the last pic) and once I have a chance I'm going to be changing out the legs to a brass color and maybe an inch or two taller
the pillows: my daughter got the checkered one for me as a birthday gift (from 5 Bellow), the mushroom plushy is from my hubby for my birthday, and the "you are my sunshine" one is a Christmas gift from my mum (I'm not entirely sure if I want to keep this one on the couch). The sheep skin was a baby shower gift from my daughter's Montessori teacher after I had my son and now it's my cat's favorite item on my couch! I also have the bigger white pillow (in the third pic), I want to make a cover for it, but I can't seem to think of a pattern or color I should do! I'm thinking neon though! do you guys have any ideas?? should I add any other pillows??
the wall: Unfortunately because we're renting we can't change the color of the wall. I'm currently looking for frames for what's already on there (and a few that fell down) because they're currently being held up with poster puddy and it's not the best at holding up the bigger artwork. I only have one item up (the fox) on the wall, the rest are my hubby's, so I'm on the hunt for local art and also making some, as well. I want to get some small floating shelves so I can put some of my plants, crystals, and knick knacks up. I'm also going to be building a 7'x4" table behind the sofa so we can put decor there as well as have a place to put our drinks since there's not enough room for a side table. what else should I add on the wall??
A rug, I am hunting thrift stores for the perfect one, but haven't quite found one yet that is big enough and fits the vibe I'm going for. part of me wants to save up for a rugable (or other washable rugs) since I have kids and fuzzy pets
Can you think of any ideas or things you would add?? The inspo pics are just a general, I also really like the aesthetic of honeybobabear (especially her cup organizing 😍). The more I type the more I'm lost on the ideas, help!! 😂
