Filling my cup one workout at a time!
I got a Peloton after I had my son. I had gained 50 pounds during my pregnancy, was struggling to lose the weight, and dealt with a lot of back pain. For the next four years, I struggled to lose the weight. I also struggled with my mental health and was inconsistent with both my eating habits and workouts.
This year, I’ve stayed consistent for 29 weeks, lost the weight, and feel the healthiest I’ve ever been.
I started to prioritize the things I had put on the back burner. My goal wasn’t just to lose weight but it was to be healthy and strong for my children. I’m proud of myself!
When I reflect on my fitness journey, the key takeaway has been the importance of consistency and mental well-being alongside physical exercise. Using Peloton as my main workout tool helped me stay motivated, especially with its engaging classes and vibrant community support. One thing I found particularly helpful was tracking my progress with metrics like output and active hours, which gave me tangible evidence of improvement and kept me focused. For example, hitting a personal best output in a workout or achieving a gold award in activity challenges boosted my confidence. Recently, I’ve come across Ladder, an app that offers a variety of workouts from strength training to mobility exercises. From what I’ve researched and heard from other users, Ladder provides structured programs with expert trainers and the flexibility to do workouts anytime, anywhere. This appeals to me as a busy mom looking for convenience and variety beyond cycling. I appreciate how Ladder also emphasizes overall health and strength, aligning with my goal to be strong for my children. One challenge postpartum has been addressing back pain and regaining core strength, so I found Pilates and strength HIIT classes on both Peloton and Ladder useful for this. Combining cardio with targeted strength workouts helped me fill my cup physically and mentally. I also realized the importance of pacing myself and listening to my body—some days I needed lighter movement or restorative sessions. For anyone considering Peloton vs Ladder, it really comes down to the type of workouts you enjoy and your lifestyle needs. Peloton offers an immersive cycling experience with live and on-demand classes, while Ladder has a wider variety of strength and functional workouts that may complement cycling well. My personal tip is to try trial periods of both to see which fits your routine and keeps you motivated over time. Overall, prioritizing my health has been transformative, not just physically but for my mental resilience. Sharing this experience with other strong moms in fitness communities has been uplifting. Whether you stick with Peloton, try Ladder, or combine both, the most important thing is to find joy and strength in your movement journey.
