River Bottom Pinch Points

River Bottom Pinch Points

River Bottom Pinch Points and river bottoms in general are some of my favorite places to find mature deer. A few of the bigger deer I have harvested have been at river bottoms and river bottom pinch points. Basically, these are usually thicker denser areas where the there are multiple points of a river that converge together.

Looking at this example, we have point where 3 streams (creaks) come together, kind of like 3 trails meeting together. This is going to create a pinch point and it's going to be a thicker area usually. Mature deer are going to these areas ato cross as it's thick and they are going to feel safer here.
