Williams, AZ
Hey everyone! If you're planning a trip to Arizona, you absolutely have to make a stop in Williams, AZ. It's not just a quick pass-through town; I found so many cool things to do there that really made our trip memorable. First up, a huge highlight for us was the Grand Canyon Deer Farm. Seriously, if you love animals, this place is a must-visit! We spent hours here hand-feeding deer, and getting up close with kangaroos, llamas, and even some exotic birds. It's such a unique, interactive experience, especially if you're traveling with kids (or you're just a big kid at heart like me!). Don't forget to grab a bag of feed when you enter – it makes the experience even better. After a day of animal encounters, we stumbled upon the WORLD FAMOUS OMA SULTANA BAR (as seen on their sign, and trust me, it lives up to the hype!). This historic spot is right in the heart of Williams, AZ, and it’s the perfect place to unwind. We grabbed some fantastic cocktails there and just soaked in the old-school Route 66 vibe. The atmosphere is incredible, full of history and character – you can almost hear the stories of travelers from decades past. It’s definitely a great stop for an evening out. But Williams isn't just about deer and drinks! It's also known as the 'Gateway to the Grand Canyon,' and for good reason. One of the most iconic experiences here is taking the Grand Canyon Railway. We didn't do it this time, but I've heard amazing things about the scenic train ride that takes you right to the South Rim. It looks like a fantastic, nostalgic way to see one of the world's wonders without the hassle of driving. And speaking of nostalgia, Williams is steeped in Route 66 history. Just walking down the main street, you're transported back in time. We loved browsing the quirky shops, grabbing a bite at a classic diner, and just admiring the vintage cars and neon signs. It's a real slice of Americana! If you have time, make sure to check out Bearizona Wildlife Park too. It’s a drive-through wildlife park where you can see North American animals in their natural habitats, and it's located just outside of town. It’s another brilliant way to experience Arizona’s wildlife. During the winter holidays, Williams transforms into a magical place with The Polar Express train ride, which is super popular. We're planning to go back for that next year! Overall, Williams, AZ, offers a fantastic blend of history, wildlife, and unique experiences. It’s more than just a stop; it’s a destination in itself. I hope these tips help you plan your own adventure there!
