Mental Health / Addiction ✨🩺

Working in a mental health and addiction clinic I do a lot of injections, a lot of blood test, take a lot of urine and do telehealth visits.

It’s almost like a form of therapy.

I never thought I would be in this position as a nurse but I must say that I do enjoy what I do.

I can see where and who I made the difference with.

Sometimes my days drag but mostly it moves pretty fast.

... Read moreMental health and addiction treatment is a continuously evolving field, and professionals are crucial in providing effective care. As more patients seek help, it's essential for nurses and healthcare workers to develop skills in managing not only medical needs but also the emotional aspects of care. One emerging trend in this area is the integration of telehealth services, which allows for accessible treatment options for those who may not be able to attend in-person sessions. Reports indicate that telehealth can reduce barriers for patients by providing flexibility in scheduling and offering anonymity. This approach has shown significant promise in reaching diverse populations, including individuals struggling with addiction-related issues, where stigma often prevents them from seeking help. It’s vital for healthcare providers to remain informed about the latest therapies and protocols, including the safe administration of medications such as buprenorphine, commonly used in addiction treatment. Additionally, engaging with the community through support groups and online forums fosters a sense of belonging and understanding among individuals facing similar challenges. As a nurse, being part of these conversations can enhance your practice and deepen patient relationships. Remember, sharing experiences not only empowers you but also helps patients recognize they are not alone in their journey toward mental wellness.

Right now I work in rehab nursing. So I help people recovering from falls, strokes, amputations, etc. I used to be a psych nurse when I first graduated and I miss it so much. You’re making a world of difference. 🩷
