Tattoo tour
I love my tattoos but some I like more than others. I do recommend going to a good tattoo artist that you trust and do research on. All but the ones on my thighs are done as walk-ins (which you can definitely tell). I love the artist I have (she did my thigh tattoos) and when I can, I would love to get another one done by her. ☺️
After my recent tattoo tour, I've had so many of you ask for more insights, especially about finding the perfect design and navigating the whole tattoo process! It’s true, each tattoo tells a story, and I’m excited to share more tips and personal reflections, building on what I've learned from my own ink journey. One of my absolute favorites, and a design that resonates deeply with many, is the 'Love Yourself' tattoo. My own version, scripted on my arm in a style inspired by my mom's handwriting, is a constant reminder of self-care and acceptance. If you're considering a 'love yourself' tattoo, think about the script you'd like – elegant, bold, minimalist? Placement is also key; some choose their wrist for a daily reminder, others the collarbone or rib cage for something more personal. Beyond just text, designs incorporating a heart, a blooming lotus flower, or even a simple, strong line drawing can convey the same powerful message. It's truly about finding a design that speaks to your soul and reinforces that vital self-love. For those contemplating their very first tattoo, it's an exciting but often nerve-wracking step! Many start with small, discreet designs, and placements like the ankle are incredibly popular. Just like my own small cross and wave tattoo on my ankle, these can be a subtle way to express yourself. Considerations for a first-timer include: what does this tattoo symbolize for *you*? Is it a permanent reminder of a significant moment, a person, or a belief? Don't rush the design process. Think about a simple symbol, a meaningful date, or a single word. Small tattoos often have lower pain levels, usually around a 1/10 or 2/10, making them a great entry point into the world of ink. Speaking of pain, it's one of the most common questions! My tattoos have ranged from barely-there discomfort (1/10 for my ankle and 'Love Yourself' script) to quite intense (a 7/10 for my moon phases and constellations on my thigh, and a 6/10 for the trees and crescent moon on my bicep). Pain is subjective and depends on placement, your pain tolerance, and the artist's technique. Areas with thinner skin or close to bone, like ribs, feet, or inner bicep, tend to be more sensitive. Preparing mentally, staying hydrated, and eating well before your appointment can make a huge difference. And this brings me to perhaps the most crucial advice: choose your artist wisely! I can't stress this enough. While walk-ins can sometimes turn out great, my experience with a 'too deep' tattoo on my bicep, which unfortunately led to scarring, taught me a valuable lesson. An experienced artist knows how to work with your skin without going too deep, preventing unnecessary pain and long-term issues. Always research their portfolio, read reviews, and ideally, get recommendations. My current artist, who did my beautiful lotus flower and moon phases, is someone I completely trust because her work is consistently amazing and she truly understands skin. Finally, tattoos often represent more than just art; they're milestones, memories, and symbols of resilience. Many seek designs that reflect 'love after pain' or overcoming challenges. A phoenix, a broken yet mended heart, or even a simple semicolon can powerfully symbolize a journey through hardship to a place of strength and self-love. Whether it's a vibrant butterfly, a serene lotus, or a celestial constellation, each piece of ink you choose can be a testament to your personal growth and the beautiful stories you carry. I hope my experiences help you on your own tattoo adventure!
