Kawhi Leonard build?
Hey everyone! So, you've seen my incredible Physical Ball-Hawking Lockdown build with those insane 91 Perimeter Defense and 91 Steal ratings. But a great build is nothing without knowing how to truly leverage it in gameplay, especially when it comes to shutting down opponents on the perimeter. I've spent countless hours refining my defensive approach with this 6'7" SF, and I'm here to share my top tips for dominating perimeter defense in NBA 2K. First off, positioning is everything. With your high Perimeter Defense, your goal is to always stay between your man and the basket. Don't overcommit to steals early in the possession. Instead, focus on mirroring their movements. If they drive left, move left. If they pull back, mirror that. My build, with its 7'1" wingspan, really helps here, making it harder for opponents to get clean looks even if they create a sliver of space. I often find myself playing slightly off-ball when my opponent is handling the ball on the wing, daring them to drive, knowing I can recover quickly. Next, let's talk about steals. With a 91 Steal rating and the 'Glove' badge, you're a threat. However, don't spam the steal button! That's how you get beat. I typically look for steal opportunities when: The ball handler is dribbling casually or not protecting the ball well after a pass. They try to make a risky cross-court pass. They're in a gather animation for a shot or drive. The 'Off-Ball Pest' badge also comes in handy for disrupting passing lanes and getting those quick pokes when opponents try to cut. It’s all about timing and anticipation. I've had so many games where a well-timed steal completely shifted the momentum! Contesting shots versus staying glued: This is a fine line. With your A-grade Perimeter Defense, you're equipped to contest almost any shot. However, my advice is to prioritize staying in front and forcing tough shots rather than lunging for blocks or contests that might put you out of position for a drive. If they manage to get past your initial defense, your 74 Block rating isn't terrible, but your strength lies in preventing them from getting there in the first place. Dealing with screens is crucial for any lockdown. Your 'Physical Ball-Hawking Lockdown' archetype means you have decent strength (B+). Use it! Fight over screens aggressively. If you get caught, quickly switch or call for help, but always try to recover to your man. Communication with your teammates (if playing online) is key here. I find that anticipating screens and trying to avoid them by cutting off the ball-handler's path before they reach the screen is often more effective than battling through it. Finally, don't forget your offensive role. While this build shines defensively, you can still contribute on offense. My build has a decent 83 Mid-Range Shot and 75 Three Point Shot, so I'm always looking for open catch-and-shoot opportunities. And with 80 Driving Layup and 82 Driving Dunk, cutting to the basket or attacking closeouts can lead to easy points. The 'Strong Handle' badge helps you maintain possession when driving, which is a nice bonus. Remember, even a defensive build needs to be well-rounded to be truly dominant!
