Initially, I would beat myself up for every tiny mistake, whispering thoughts like "I'm such an idiot," which only deepened my insecurity. It took deliberate effort to start challenging these thoughts. For example, when someone complimented me, instead of brushing it off, I tried saying "thank you" and reflecting on the positive feedback. Another barrier is the tendency to compare yourself unfavorably to others. It's important to remember that everyone has their own struggles, and comparisons often highlight insecurities rather than realities. When I noticed myself avoiding new chances due to feelings of unworthiness, I started setting small, manageable goals to step outside my comfort zone gradually. Each small win helped boost my confidence and self-esteem. Using tools designed to improve mental health, such as apps created by therapists, can provide structured support and progress tracking. Remember, healing is a process where progress over perfection leads the way. If you recognize these signs in yourself, know that you are not alone; acknowledging them is a powerful first step toward self-love and improved mental well-being.
