Reader lunch break destination 📚 ✈️

If you’ve been here for a bit, you may know that I have an hour lunch at work with nothing in walking distance so leaving to go anywhere wastes the entire break.

To combat this I’ve made my own slice of peace in the parking lot! In my car I have the book nook of my dreams! A cozy place to escape the chaos of work without wasting my break driving to a secondary location.

This does many that all of my back seats are out of commission. No more than one passenger at a time lol #readingbreak #wickedreads #booknook #lemon8partner #lemon8bookclub

If you’ve been thinking about setting up your own cozy reading spot in your vehicle, let me tell you, it's worth every bit of effort. First off, why a car book nook? Beyond escaping a busy office for lunch, it’s about reclaiming your personal time. Imagine having a private oasis when you're waiting for appointments, picking up kids from school, or even just needing a moment of quiet after a stressful day. It's portable, cost-effective, and surprisingly versatile. For me, it's a sanctuary on wheels. Now, let’s talk essentials. Comfort is key. My car book nook isn't just a place to sit; it's designed for serious relaxation. I highly recommend investing in good blankets and pillows – think plush throws and soft cushions for maximum coziness. If you have an SUV, you’re in luck! There’s so much space to work with. I’ve even managed to fit a small 4-inch mattress in the back cargo area, which makes a huge difference for long reading sessions. Don’t forget proper back support to really settle in with your favorite fantasy novel, perhaps even 'Saints of Storm and Sorrow,' which I've been enjoying. Beyond the basics, think about your reading experience. A small, battery-operated reading lamp is a must for dim days or evening reads. I keep a cozy mug for tea or coffee in a thermos and a small snack stash. To keep things organized, I use collapsible bins for my books and other essentials. Some people even add battery-operated fairy lights for extra ambiance – it truly transforms the space! Setting up your nook smartly is important. Always prioritize safety: park in well-lit areas, be mindful of your surroundings, and ensure you have good ventilation, especially if you're parked for a while. Keeping it tidy is also crucial; a small car trash can and a quick wipe-down can prevent it from feeling cluttered. Privacy screens or even custom window shades can add an extra layer of seclusion if you're in a public space. My car book nook has truly become my happy place. It’s where I dive into new worlds, recharge, and enjoy uninterrupted moments of peace. Whether you're a student, a commuter, or someone who just craves a unique reading spot, I encourage you to give it a try. You might be surprised how much joy a little creativity in your car can bring!
