Vacation in Kauai 🌸
Destination List
✈️ Island: Kauai
✨ Pros: Where to begin!! This island is less touristy than Oahu or Maui. There are no high rises, in fact, the tallest buildings can only be as tall as the tallest coconut palm. The Na Pali coast is mesmerizing and only accessible by boat or helicopter. A complete MUST DO when visiting. Mount Waiʻaleʻale receives the most rain than anywhere else in the world keeping the island lush and waterfalls flowing year round making it an amazing place to hike and cool off in the water. The temperature ranges from 70-85 degrees year round. Kauai has world class beaches Hanalei Bay’s backdrop is like you’re looking at a Jurassic park movie scene. Poipu beach is more calm and sunny and ideal for little ones and here you’ll see more turtles sunbathing. There is so much adventure here from zip lining, snorkeling, hiking, kayaking the Wailua River a week here barely gets you started in seeing the whole island. Having said that you can easily get from one side to the other in under 2 hours.
One of our most favorite things we did was Adopt a dog for the day at Kauai Humane Society. They’re a great organization, very thorough and I love how much they’re trying to make a difference for the animals.
The people of Kauai are deeply connected to their land, culture, and community. They’re friendly but grounded — if you show respect and aloha, you’ll likely feel it returned. Support local businesses, tread lightly, and you’ll be welcomed with genuine warmth.
Kauai has become my favorite place on earth!! I can’t wait to go back one day.
👀 Cons: Getting to the island can be a long journey for some and pricey for flights and accommodations. THAT WE ONLY STAYED A WEEK AND HAD TO RETURN BACK TO REALITY. I also wish we would’ve stopped at more food trucks and went on more hikes.
🗺️ Tips: Do your homework on what you want to see/do and book ahead for excursions. We made the mistake of not buying a ticket to HĀʻENA STATE PARK weeks before we went and we weren’t able to do Kalalau Trail/visit ke’e beach.
We also downloaded an App called SHAKA GUIDE that gave us insights about different things around the island including its history, beaches we would’ve never found on our own and fun food stops along the way. Yes, you have to pay for the app but in my humble opinion it was money well spent.
We did a Costco run when we landed after we got our rental car and got snacks and drinks for the week.
