Just turned 37 & what I’ll tell the 27 year old me
I turned 37 recently and here’s what I’ll tell the 27 year old Will. Took me 10 years to realise these brutal life lessons.
Everything happens for a reason, and it’s often good for you 🙏

As I hit 37, I've come to appreciate how much we often misjudge our own potential. It’s easy to overestimate what we can achieve in a day, yet underestimate how much consistent effort over a year truly transforms us. For instance, when I started learning Japanese 18 months ago, not knowing a word seemed daunting, but daily small steps led me to create content in the language—a magical journey made possible by daily commitment. Another breakthrough came from learning to be comfortable alone. Initially, doing things solo felt awkward and lonely. But over time, I discovered that solitude sharpens your unique voice and clarifies what truly matters to you. It’s in those quiet moments away from the crowd that authentic self-discovery happens. I've also realized that self-love is the foundation of all healthy relationships. You can't pour from an empty cup. Loving yourself first gives you the strength and clarity to care for others and set boundaries. It saved me from unhealthy attachments and allowed me to work only with people who are equally willing to grow and collaborate. Finally, I advise not to let others' judgments dictate your path. We’re quick to internalize criticism, but most opinions don’t pay your bills or shape your destiny. Instead, seek advice from those who've walked your road. One positive affirmation you say to yourself can outweigh a whole chorus of naysayers. If you’re turning 37 or anywhere in your journey, embrace these lessons: trust the process, value solitude, prioritize self-love, and remember growth is for you—never for anyone else. These insights have reshaped my mindset and life, and I hope sharing them helps you as much as they’ve helped me.
