Sad
I've often found myself grappling with the question of identity, especially when those around me throw out labels that seem to conflict and confuse. Being called everything from "loud" to "quiet," "pretty" to "ugly," or "smart" to "stupid" can leave anyone feeling lost about who they really are. It’s exhausting to hold onto each label simultaneously and still try to understand your true self. What helped me was realizing that these labels say more about the person assigning them than about me. People view others through their own biases and experiences, so their words aren't always an accurate reflection of reality. It took time, but I learned to separate their opinions from my sense of worth. Another step was embracing the complexity within myself. Instead of fitting into one neat category, I accepted that I can be both "funny" and "boring," "nice" and "mean" at different times. Everyone has multiple facets, and that diversity is what makes us human. Finally, surrounding myself with supportive friends who understand me beyond surface labels was crucial. They see me as a whole person, not just by particular traits or moods. Their acceptance gave me the confidence to stop worrying about conflicting identities and just be myself. If you feel lost because of the many labels others give you, remember you're not alone. Take time to reflect on who you are beyond these words, and give yourself permission to be a multifaceted, evolving person. Your identity is yours to define, not theirs.
