We were supposed to go to New York
We got on the plane thinking that in just a couple of hours, we would be in New York- instead, after watching a full movie (The Hunger Games is and always will be amazing) we got off the plane in the same place we started off.
Seeing as it was raining, it wasn’t all that surprising that there would be delays, but I don’t think anyone expected to sit on the plane for hours not going anywhere then having to get off because there was no end to the waiting in sight.
Apparently, LaGuardia doesn’t allow a whole lot of traffic, even on a good weather day, but with lightning, it was even worse. The flight didn’t get canceled, they were just waiting for another flight to get canceled so that they could take that spot. Anyway, after waiting a few more hours at the airport and seeing that the departure was just going to keep getting pushed back, we decided to make our way back home.
I can’t say I am not a little disappointed, but at least we wouldn’t have to spend our vacation in the rain!

Traveling can often come with unexpected challenges, as our recent experience of attempting to fly to New York illustrated. Flight delays due to severe weather conditions are more common than many realize. LaGuardia Airport, known for its limited capacity, can face significant delays especially during storms. For travelers planning a trip, it's wise to stay updated on weather forecasts and to anticipate possible changes in travel plans. One helpful tip is to book flights during less busy seasons or to consider alternative airports nearby. Also, travelers should remain flexible and have a plan for accommodations should they be faced with delays. Remember, each travel hiccup can turn into a memorable story; our decision to return home rather than wait at the airport highlights the importance of embracing spontaneity in travel. Whether you're flying to New York or any other destination, always have a backup plan and ensure to make the most of your adventures. Aside from flight delays, New York City offers countless possibilities for exploration, from its iconic landmarks like Times Square to the serene pathways of Central Park. Should your travel plans change unexpectedly, take the opportunity to explore local attractions or spend quality time with those who travel with you. After all, the journey is just as important as the destination.
