Take a breath
My morning and night wellness routine
Ok there are moments when life will have us overthinking, overwhelmed and overcome with emotions and feelings we can’t quite control. Take a big breath and slow it down. Slow down the thoughts, the feelings, the doing and the control. One of the tools I use with my kids is a star breathing technique. For myself I do a four count in, five count hold and an eight count release. What are y’all’s favorite breathing practices?
Breath work plays a crucial role in maintaining mental and emotional balance. Various breathing techniques can help reduce anxiety and promote relaxation. For instance, the 4-7-8 technique involves inhaling for four seconds, holding for seven, and exhaling for eight, which can lead to a state of tranquility. Additionally, practicing pranayama, an ancient yoga technique, can enhance lung capacity and overall well-being. Incorporating regular breath work into your day can be a game changer. Set aside a few minutes when you wake up or before bed to focus solely on your breathing. You might also find guided breathing apps or videos helpful for starting your practice. Discovering your best breathing method is key and can greatly benefit your mental health. Share and explore with others your experiences or favorite techniques to build a community around breath work.
