Nature Lessons: Teachers Who Never Cost Teaching "Take a Deep Look at Nature and You'll Understand Everything Better"
Nature never offers courses, never gives out diplomas, but it teaches us every day through "just being yourself."
Birds never tutor before flying, trees never read before producing leaves, but they both do their job more perfectly than humans with thousands of universities.
In Pali, "Dharma" does not mean just religious teachings, but the laws of nature and the truth of all things. Therefore, a real dharma classroom may not be in a temple, but a backyard that you walk through every morning without ever noticing it. This is a lesson that nature has always taught without tuition.
1. Two poles, not the enemy, but the same team.
Humans like to judge the world as two sides, good-bad, right-wrong, successful-failed, like playing ball with a losing team, but nature never plays that game. Day and night do not compete with who is cooler. If only day, we will never sleep. If only night, the tree will not catch the photosynthesis.
So do predators and prey, each with the key to the equilibrium of the ecosystem. Even happiness and suffering are two teachers who teach each other, one to be cheerful, the other to be tougher.
If you look deeper, day and night are the only worlds that rotate. High and low waves are the same ocean, and death is just a step apart from one process. When you see this, you stop asking "which side to choose" and start to see that both sides are holding hands to create a complete picture all the time.
2. Nothing stays still. Even suffering can pass.
Flowers bloom and sprinkle, rain and then stop, sunrise and sunset, nature repeats this word to us every day without boredom: nothing stands still.
We often think that change is a loss, but it really opens up space for new things. Leaves fall so that young leaves break shoots. Seeds break the shell so that seedlings poke heads. The sun must set before we can see the stars.
Most human suffering comes not from "change," but from trying to force it not to change....I want my lover to be the same, I want my body to not be old, I want happiness to endure, but nature never signs a contract like that with anyone. When we accept that everything is just a passing scene, we will start to love the person in front, take care of ourselves more, and thank you for the ordinary day, knowing that it will not last forever.
3. Nothing happens suddenly. Every result is sourced.
One of the trees we see is the sum of seeds, soil, water, sun, wind, microbes, and invisible time. It is not "good" by itself, and it is not "lucky." It is just a complete factor.
A real good gardener will not curse a withered tree as "lazy," but will ask if the soil is lacking, if the water is too much, if the roots are strong, if this is a view that humans should borrow for themselves.
Instead of concluding, "I failed," ask if I was sleeping enough, if I was stressed, if the environment was conducive, maybe the "laziness" we were cursing was actually just a fatigue that no one listened to.
Looking for cause is not to find an excuse, but to fix the roots instead of just blaming them.
4. Flow naturally, not surrender.
The river never punches a rock, it just goes around, it flows through, and the rock finally changes itself, not because of the collision, but because of the consistency. The bamboo tree transfers in the wind and then stands straight when the storm passes. The fish does not try to fly. The birds do not try to swim. Because nature never wastes time comparing itself to anyone.
Humans like to ask, "Why am I not as good as him?" Nature would reply briefly, "Because you were not born to be him." Jasmine is not jealous of sunflowers. Cactus does not regret that it does not rain every day. Each life has its own season. Nature does not have the word "too late." There is only the word "Is it time?"
And this does not mean to be lazy, the seed also has to push out the shell, the root also has to be very active, nature works very hard all the time, but it only works to "conform," not "force." This is a thin line between perseverance and self-torture.
5. No one can live alone, not even in one forest.
Bees don't mean to save the world, they just find nectar to eat, but on the way, they unknowingly pollinate the whole field of flowers. The trees produce oxygen without ever charging. The rivers feed the forests. The forests hold water back to the rivers. All life depends on each other without anyone signing a contract.
Humans, too, just have countless people behind the word "I do it myself."..Peasants, delivery drivers, weavers, even a book has writers, editors, printers, transporters, bookstores, queues to help keep it in our hands. Even breath is a trade. We breathe oxygen into the tree and spit out the carbon dioxide the tree needs.
We have never separated from nature in one breath.
When you feel alone, sit down under a tree for a moment, not because the tree will solve the problem, but because it reminds you that we are always part of a bigger picture than ourselves.
6. Now is the only place where life actually happens.
Trees never think about yesterday, never worry about tomorrow, they're just photosynthetic right now, it sounds easy, but for humans, this is a brutal stage, because we're always walking at one place, but our heads are always at another...Eat, chat, chat, talk to the person in front of you, but the heart is floating tomorrow. It's not strange that time will feel fast, because we almost never really live with it.
Buddhists call this consciousness...Not to be still, but to know exactly what is going on, to breathe, to know that to breathe, to be angry, not to relegate, not to attract, just to perceive like the sky that receives every cloud that passes through, to try tea as a real tea, to walk like a foot that really touches the ground, a beautiful life may not be the longest life, but a life that stays with each second of it at its fullest.
7. Nature is a mirror
The day when the heart is happy, the sky will look beautiful, the wind will look cool, the birds will sing beautifully, but the day when the heart is heavy, the same place will look dull and empty. The question is, the world changes or the person looks changed? The same tree, one sees beauty, the other only firewood, the other sees the bird's house, the tree never changes, only the person looks constantly changing.
Still water reflects clearly. Still mind also looks at the world. Many people say that entering the forest is even more distracted. This is not because the forest is distracted, but because the city has enough sound to keep the voice in mind. When nature is quiet, we hear the hidden voice in ourselves > > Fear, hope, dreams that never have a chance to speak.
Next time you walk into the park, try not to take a picture, not to interpret it, just sit quietly and ask yourself, "What does nature reflect for us today?" Maybe you can see your own rush by feeling "enough sitting" for five minutes, or your tender heart by smiling at a butterfly without knowing it.
These are not all separate...Bipolar teaches perfection, impermanence teaches non-attachment, reason factors teach to understand rather than judge, non-compulsion teaches to use power wisely, relationships teach to know never to be isolated, being with the present teaches to experience life, and nature as a mirror teaches to know itself.
Perhaps this is why people of all ages choose to walk into the woods, sit by the water, or look at the sky when life is messy, not because nature tells the answer, but because it never stops showing the truth.
Trees teach about growth, rivers teach about flow, seasons teach about transition, the sky teaches about letting go, and all life around us teaches the same story that we are never separated.
Dharma is not far from the example of thought, it lives in every leaf, every wind and every step we walk on this planet. Nature not only teaches us to "live," but invites us to be part of it again.
