🌺 how i spend less on beauty products
before i started doing this, i had a really bad spending habit in relation to specifically beauty and personal hygiene products. i’ve always been very susceptible to advertisements and have always had bad impulse control. but once i created a budget and tried sticking to it, i realized that i don’t need to be spending as much money as i am on beauty.
essentially, what i do is i allow myself to place one big order of $50 or less once a month buying beauty/personal hygiene products. of course, if there are extenuating circumstances (i.e. i run out of toothpaste and need it asap) i allow myself to buy it. but usually, i try to identify ahead of time if i’ll run out of that item during the month and buy it ahead of time.
i’ve found that this has significantly decreased my spending and think i might even introduce it to other areas of significant spending in my life (video games, books, etc.). what do you guys think of this method? is there anything you do that’s similar? or have you found a method that works even better?

For many, beauty products can be a significant expense, often driven by clever marketing and impulse buying. Adopting a budget, such as restricting yourself to $50 a month, allows for intentional shopping. It's beneficial to plan ahead, keeping track of when products will run out, so you can prioritize replacements and test new items wisely. Consider tracking your beauty inventory to avoid over-purchasing. Initiate a decluttering routine to find products you’ve forgotten about. Joining online forums related to personal finance and beauty budgeting can provide inspiration and additional strategies. Beyond beauty, applying this mindful spending technique to other interest areas like gaming or fashion can lead to a more balanced budget. Testing out beauty products using trial sizes or sharing with friends can also reduce expenses while experiencing new items. Ultimately, controlling spending in any category starts with awareness and planning.
