💡My thoughts on the TikTok Ban

If you are in online marketing, I am sure you have heard about the potential TikTok ban...

As a video marketer who LOVES TikTok, I want to help ease your mind and give you some clear action steps to make sure you have a wildly successful business for years to come.

I have very real human feelings about this, but I am only going to speak to the business aspect in this post.

Ok, so first things first - do I think it's going to get banned?

I don't know. I lean towards no, because of the economic implications.

TikTok brought in 16 billion dollars to the US in 2023 and that's even higher for 2024 because of TikTok shop.

That's a whole lotta tax dollars 😉

That being said - it's social media! We do not own it and we should act accordingly.

Whether or not TikTok gets banned in the US in March - here is what I am doing in my business and what I suggest you do as well.

1. It's time to go BIG! If TikTok were to go away, what do you wish you would have said and how would you have showed up? Cause honey - do that!!

I will be marketing my business in a BOLD fashion on TIkTok. Sharing content that I normally would have held back on and posting a ton!

I am using this impending doom as a permission slip to go all in on my big deal energy and share my message. Plan?

2. Which brings me to this reminder: Social media marketing is about bringing people onto your list. If you don't have a good freebie and email nurture sequence that you are promoting - you need one.

3. I have always and will always recommend that you have at least 2 social platforms that you are marketing your business on. I personally use my personal Fb page, stories and TikTok.

4. One thing I am focusing on for 2025 is more collaborations! It's easy to get into your own bubble in your marketing and only think about what you are doing - but collaborating with people in your industry is a great way to get your work in front of new people and share value with your audience.

Here are a few ways to collaborate:

• Doing a live shared training

• Doing a podcast swap

• Inviting an expert into your community to share value

I am currently creating a podcast pitching system to help you get booked on aligned podcasts regularly - more on that later.

As you can see, there are lots of ways to market your business online and, while TikTok is one of my faves and on a personal level I will cryyyyy if it goes away - we still rise.

Would love to know your thoughts and strategies if you are concerned about TikTok for your business!?

... Read moreAs TikTok faces the possibility of a ban, many marketers are concerned about how to adapt their strategies. TikTok brought significant revenue to the US economy, and its potential disappearance could leave a void in marketing channels. To prepare, marketers should expand their outreach by diversifying their social media presence and focusing on building email lists through valuable freebies and nurture sequences. This approach ensures a steady customer base, regardless of platform changes. Collaboration is key in marketing, and this is a prime opportunity to connect with other industry professionals. It’s beneficial to participate in joint ventures, such as live training sessions, podcast appearances, or expert guest appearances in your community. These strategies not only help you reach new audiences but also enhance your authority in a competitive market. In addition, creating a strong digital presence on at least two platforms is crucial. By utilizing Facebook and TikTok, you can create a robust marketing strategy that supports your business objectives even if one platform is compromised. As looming changes unfold, staying proactive and open to new methods will be essential. Finally, the focus should be on authentic messaging. With the uncertainty surrounding TikTok, marketers are encouraged to articulate their brand's story authentically. Sharing personal insights, experiences, and core values can resonate with audiences, fostering deeper connections. As changes evolve, consider how you can lead with transparency and creativity, ensuring that your business not only survives but thrives in any scenario.
