Happy Independence Day to Ghana! 🥰🇬🇭

While I am happy and proud to be part of a country that is beautiful and filled with culture. I’m disappointed in the recent Anti-LGBTQ bill that passed. The bill includes putting allies in jail for showing support to people who stigmatized every day.

If you have ever been to Ghana it is clear this country is like 85% Christian and they have a long way to go in regard to LGTBQ+. However, it would be ignorant to think that this bill wouldn’t promote harassment and harm to those who are in the community.

As of now there are groups in Ghana for LGTBQ+ community but I’m having a hard time finding the sites.

I don’t know what I can do from the states but I’m afraid what could happen to innocent people if this bill is passed. #ghanaian🇬🇭 #ghana

... Read moreIt’s hard to put into words just how much beauty Ghana holds. As someone who deeply cherishes this land, I often find myself reflecting on what makes it truly special, beyond just a date on the calendar. When I think of 'beautiful Ghana,' my mind immediately drifts to the stunning coastline, where golden sands meet the rhythmic waves of the Atlantic. There’s nothing quite like standing by the ocean, feeling the cool spray on your face, watching the sun dip below the horizon – it’s a scene of unparalleled tranquility, much like the serene coastal view captured in some of my favorite memories, offering a moment of pure peace away from the everyday hustle. Our cities, while bustling with energy, carry a unique charm. Historic landmarks and public monuments, like the one captured in an old photograph, stand tall, whispering tales of our rich past and the arduous journey to independence. These aren't just stone and mortar; they are powerful reminders of the resilience, innovation, and unwavering spirit of the Ghanaian people. But the beauty isn't solely confined to grand structures; it’s vividly present in the everyday life – the vibrant markets overflowing with colorful textiles, exotic spices, and fresh produce, the infectious rhythms of highlife music drifting from open windows, and the simple, profound warmth of a shared meal with friends and family. Beyond the urban landscape, Ghana’s natural wonders are truly breathtaking and diverse. Picture lush green rainforests, teeming with diverse wildlife and exotic birds, and stunning waterfalls like the majestic Wli Falls, whose cascading waters are a testament to nature's raw power and artistry. The air in these places feels different, cleaner, infused with the earthy scent of damp soil and blooming flora, inviting you to breathe deeply and reconnect with the natural world. From the northern savannahs to the southern beaches, the landscape offers a spectacular array of sights and sounds. And then there's the undeniable heart of Ghana: its people. Our culture is meticulously woven with threads of deep hospitality, strong community bonds, and an enduring sense of family that defines us. I vividly remember countless gatherings, much like a cherished family portrait, filled with uproarious laughter, captivating stories passed down through generations, and the irresistible aroma of delicious Ghanaian dishes like spicy jollof rice, hearty fufu with groundnut soup, or sweet kelewele. These aren't just meals; they are celebrations of togetherness, moments where we share our traditions and reinforce our connections. These collective experiences truly exemplify the generous and welcoming spirit of our nation. This deep, personal connection to Ghana's cultural richness and unparalleled natural splendor is what makes being Ghanaian so incredibly special. It’s a land where ancient traditions gracefully coexist with the dynamism of modern life, constantly creating a vibrant tapestry that is both evolving and deeply rooted. Every corner you turn, every genuine smile you receive, every captivating story you hear, adds another intricate layer to the profound and multifaceted beauty of this nation. It's this all-encompassing beauty that inspires profound hope, even when faced with significant challenges, constantly reminding us of the incredible potential, resilience, and indomitable spirit that lies within our beloved Ghana, a place I will always call home with immense pride.
