Chesapeake Bay, Southern Maryland

On the Eastern Shore MD side, you'll find quaint towns like St. Michaels, famous for its maritime museum and boutique shops, along with plenty of opportunities for birdwatching and kayaking through tranquil marshlands. But my recent trip took me more to the western side, including Chesapeake Beach MD. This charming town is perfect for a relaxing day by the water, with its boardwalk, fishing pier, and even a small water park. I loved just strolling along, soaking up the sun, and watching the boats. There are also some fantastic local eateries where you can taste the freshest catch, straight from the Bay. For outdoor lovers, a visit to Calvert Cliffs State Park is an absolute must. I spent a whole day there, hiking the scenic trails that wind through forests and lead down to the beach, where I had a blast hunting for fossilized shark teeth—it’s such a unique experience! The park is famous for its dramatic cliffs formed over millions of years, offering breathtaking views. If you're thinking about where to stay, there are excellent hotels near Calvert Cliffs State Park that offer convenient access, or for a more immersive experience, Calvert Cliffs campground is a fantastic option. Every corner of the Bay seems to have its own special charm, offering a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle.
