For so long, I ran from my assignment, waiting for the ‘perfect moment’—a moment where I finally felt qualified to do what God had called me to do. I kept telling myself, ‘I need more time,’ but in reality, I was afraid.
But here’s what I’ve learned: God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called.
The Word reminds us, ‘Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called.
Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth.
But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.’ (1 Corinthians 1:26-27)
It also says, ‘Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.’ (2 Timothy 2:15).
That ’s exactly what I did—I didn’t rush it. I took time to seek God, to study, and to let Him prepare me.
Now that I’m walking in obedience, I can see how His power is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).
I’ve also come to realize how important it is to have a strong, faith-based community. Here are some reasons why being in a community matters:

5️⃣ Kingdom Purpose: Community equips you to discover your God-given purpose and walk boldly in it.

You know, for the longest time, I wrestled with that verse from James: 'Faith without deeds is dead.' It felt heavy, a bit intimidating. I’d always thought faith was primarily about belief, about what was in my heart. But that verse challenged me to look at my life and ask, 'Where are the actions that back up what I say I believe?' I remember feeling so unqualified for what I knew God was calling me to do – to create a Christian community. My head was full of doubts, excuses, and fears. It was almost like my faith was there, a flickering flame, but my deeds were missing. I wasn't stepping out. I was waiting for the 'perfect' moment, for someone else to qualify me, or for all my insecurities to magically disappear. But as the article mentions, 'God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called.' That was a huge turning point for me. I realized that my inaction was actually hindering my faith from truly coming alive. So, what does 'deeds' look like in our everyday Christian walk? It’s not always about grand, public gestures. Often, it’s in the quiet acts of obedience: studying His Word when you'd rather scroll, extending forgiveness when it's hard, serving a neighbor, or simply showing up consistently for prayer. For me, it became about taking that scary step to actually build the Christian community I felt called to. It was a deed of faith, a leap of obedience, despite still feeling unqualified. This is where having a strong Christian community really becomes invaluable. When I started the Deeper Faith Community, I quickly saw how much easier it is to live out your faith when you’re surrounded by others striving for the same. When I was feeling weak or discouraged, my community reminded me of God's promises – that His strength is made perfect in my weakness. They held me accountable, not in a judgmental way, but by lovingly prompting me to walk in what I believed. We pray for each other, brainstorm ways to serve, and learn together. These shared experiences and support foster an environment where 'deeds' naturally flourish. It’s a beautiful cycle: your faith inspires action, and those actions, in turn, strengthen your faith.
