“A Shoulder She Can Never Borrow”
Tired. Physically, emotionally, and mentally.
When everything has to be faced alone.
When help is needed, no hand reaches out. In the end, every ounce of strength is forced out just to get through it all.
The eldest daughter — all the burdens fall upon her shoulders.
Her time must be rationed,
the money must be earned by her,
the problems must be solved by her too.
Sometimes people seem to forget the small strength of an eldest daughter.
Perhaps because she is always there,
always finding a way,
always having a thousand solutions.
Maybe they forget that she, too, is just a small human being who longs for a shoulder to lean on.
She also feels tired, suffocated, exhausted, and as if she is drowning.
She carries all these uncomfortable feelings, yet she chooses silence.
Because she knows
she does not have the privilege
to be given space
to show all those weaknesses and imperfections
