It often comes with mixed feelings — excitement for their growth and sadness over how quickly time flies. One common experience many parents share is the constant clinginess of toddlers before they start school. Despite encouraging independence, they just "never leave", sticking close and wanting constant attention. Personally, I've found humor to be my best coping mechanism during this phase. The clinginess can be exhausting, but the funny moments, like my child bursting into giggles when I pretend to be a silly monster or the endless questions about "why" each thing happens, remind me of the special bond we have. Preparing your child for kindergarten also involves mental and emotional readiness. Reading books about school life, playing social games, and visiting the classroom beforehand can ease their anxiety. It’s normal for kids to be nervous, but with loving reassurance and patience, they grow more confident. Parenting during this period is a rollercoaster of emotions — patience, laughter, and tears. Enjoying the humor in daily challenges, like when your little one refuses to let you out of sight, can make the journey more joyful. Remember, these clingy moments are fleeting and a sign of your child’s trust and affection, which will only deepen as they explore the world beyond home.
