Day 4 in China- Chongqing > Chengdu 🇨🇳

TB: 7th September 2025, Sunday

Ordered breakfast to eat our last meal in Chongqing’s homestay. After that we prepared to check out of the homestay and didi to Chongqingbei railway station.

We reached 📌Chongqingbei railway station at about 12.42pm. Look at picture 2, for non-citizens always go to “人工通道” as will require officer to manual scan and check. Then after that will be bag checks and off you go to find your train number & ticket gates.

Chongqingbei > Chengdudong

1.24pm > 2.51pm (1 hr 27 mins) direct train

Brought thru trip.com

💰: SGD 163.05 for 5 pax including booking fees

Inside the train limited luggage storage area especially for bigger luggages, so smaller luggages it can fit in the overhead racks. we choose to put our bigger luggages infront of our legs as it is more convenient to take when alighting, just that might be abit squeezy on the leg part & if the person infront of you recline their seats thn you won’t be able to fit the luggage already 😅.

Once we reached 📌Chengdudong Railway Station we followed the signs to go towards West Square, just keep walking till you exit the station then look for Burger King and further down to Perennial, there will be orange signboards above “网约车上车点” just follow and go to B3 that would be the didi pickup point. Before heading there, we happened to pass by 7-11 so we bought some food there before gg to take didi to our hotel.

Once you are at the pick up point, in didi app check the driver’s car plate. Don’t wait in the wrong lanes as they actually divide the place into two waiting areas, one is for cars with last digit odd number & another is for cars with last digit even number. So for example car plate is B43465 then go wait at the odd number waiting area else you won’t find yr didi 😂 as the car cn only come the lane according to their car plate last digit. Wow seriously so amazed by hw efficient this is! To prevent like jam.

In Chengdu we stayed in this hotel: 📌Atour Hotel IFS Chunxi Road Chengdu, seriously HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! they have ALOT of outlets in chengdu btw. Click here to read more about the hotel 😊

After reaching hotel, we walked to IFS, it was so near the hotel. Tai ko li is also around the area. Went to take photo of the panda 😂 go to 7th floor of the IFS shopping mall to see giant panda hahaha. It’s just a iconic panda shot~

After walking around, we decided to eat mac for dinner hahaha & went to buy panda items from a stall near our hotel while otw back. The panda items are cheap & looks so cute!!

Also we went to the tour agency nearby our hotel to check on the day tour pricings etc & decided to go with a day tour the next day!

After that back to hotel, ordered Auntea Jenny. The delivery fee is so cheap omg! 8.7 yuan only, around SGD 1.60 hahaha.

THAT’S THE END OF DAY 4!

... Read moreIf you're planning to travel between Chongqing and Chengdu, I found that booking tickets through platforms like Trip.com is very convenient and secure. Since the train journey is just under 1.5 hours, packing light can really improve your travel comfort, as space for bigger luggage inside the carriage is quite limited and overhead racks mainly fit smaller bags. At Chongqingbei Railway Station, non-citizens should head to the "人工通道" for manual document scanning, which is standard procedure but ensures smooth security checks. Once you reach Chengdudong Station, look for clear signage to West Square to exit and find local transport. I recommend buying snacks at nearby 7-11 stores before leaving the station for longer waits. A neat tip I learned is about the Didi pickup zones at Chengdudong: cars are grouped by the last digit of their plate number, odd and even numbers have separate waiting lanes. This system avoids congestion and makes finding your ride quick and hassle-free – just check your driver’s plate on the app! For accommodation, Atour Hotel IFS Chunxi Road was a great choice with its many locations across Chengdu. Its proximity to popular spots like the IFS shopping mall (where you can snapshot the iconic giant panda on the 7th floor) and nearby food options like McDonald's makes it very convenient. Don’t miss browsing the affordable and adorable panda-themed souvenirs sold close to the hotel. Finally, food delivery services like Auntea Jenny offer delicious drinks at very reasonable delivery fees – a perfect way to relax after a day out. Overall, planning ahead for station navigation, luggage, and transport can greatly enhance your travel experience between Chongqing and Chengdu.
