SAMPLE DECK

A sample deck release from @wots___.

The shape is sampled from McGill, resized, and turned into a stinger with a mellow single kick and concave.

I tried placing a notch at the base of the tail to taper it without the wheels sticking out, aiming for better control.

The wheelbase hasn’t been finalized yet — I’ll be testing setups ranging from 15.5 to 17 before deciding.

... Read moreThe WOTS skateboard deck sample discussed here is a noteworthy innovation for skateboard enthusiasts looking for customization and control. The deck shape, sampled from the renowned McGill model, is resized and converted into a stinger style that features a mellow single kick and concave. These design elements contribute to both the aesthetic and functional appeal, providing riders with a more controlled and comfortable ride. One of the key design modifications is the addition of a notch at the base of the tail. This notch tapers the tail without letting the wheels protrude beyond the deck’s edges, which is crucial for maintaining smooth maneuverability and preventing wheel bite during sharp turns. This subtle yet impactful adjustment can enhance rider control, especially when executing technical tricks or navigating tight spaces. Another significant aspect of this deck is the adjustable wheelbase ranging from 15.5 to 17 inches. The wheelbase length substantially influences the skateboard's stability and turning radius. A shorter wheelbase usually offers quicker turning response and better agility, while a longer one provides greater stability at higher speeds. The planned testing of different wheelbase measurements before finalizing the setup demonstrates an emphasis on rider preference and performance optimization. Given the dimensions—10.5 inches wide by 31 inches long—this deck provides a balanced platform suitable for various skateboarding styles from street tricks to cruising. The width offers ample footing space for better balance, and the length combined with customized wheelbase options ensures adaptability for different riding environments. In addition, the use of a single kicktail with mellow concave supports comfortable foot positioning while allowing fluid execution of kickflip-style maneuvers. Skateboarders interested in technical prowess combined with control would benefit greatly from such a design. Skateboarders should consider matching this deck with suitable trucks and wheels that complement the wheelbase and overall geometry. Proper setup will maximize the deck’s intended control and responsiveness, enhancing the overall skateboarding experience. This WOTS sample deck highlights how thoughtful shape customization and adjustable parameters like wheelbase can elevate skateboarding performance. It’s an excellent example of blending classic influences like McGill’s shape with modern tweaks to meet individual rider needs.
