Impkin number 2!
This is my second Impkin from Megan Lapp’s Crochet Impkins book! I think this will be the last I make myself for a while. I’m hoping I have enough time before Christmas to make one for each of my kiddos. I’m absolutely in love with this pattern and I’ve learned so much with the book and the Facebook group.
I also have plans to make some with magnets in the hands so they can hold books and be Book-kins to sell when I do book events. I haven’t come up with a pattern for the books yet though which will also have magnets!
But first, Christmas!
I think she also needs a name! What does she look like to you? Flora? Fauna? Penelope? Give me some ideas!

There's something truly magical about bringing a little creature to life with just yarn and a hook, isn't there? My journey with Megan Lapp's Impkins patterns has been incredibly rewarding. For anyone curious about diving into the world of 'Impkins crochet', I can't recommend her book enough. It’s not just a collection of patterns; it's a fantastic guide that teaches you so much about shaping, details, and creating truly unique characters. What I love most about making these 'Impkins' is how each one develops its own personality. My latest creation, this adorable green crocheted Impkin with its sparkly eyes and tiny brown satchel, is no exception. Even though its head ended up slightly askew – a common handmade charm, I like to think! – it just adds to its character. Don't be discouraged if your first attempts aren't perfect; that's part of the learning process and what makes each piece special. Mine currently hangs on a doorknob, just waiting for a name! For those thinking about starting their own Impkin adventure, here are a few tips I've picked up. Firstly, choose your yarn wisely! The texture and color can really define your Impkin's personality. I've found that a good quality acrylic or cotton blend works perfectly, giving a nice stitch definition. Secondly, don't rush the stuffing! Evenly stuffed Impkins look so much better and hold their shape beautifully. And finally, if you get stuck, the online community (like the dedicated Facebook group for Impkins) is an invaluable resource. There's always someone willing to help, share tips, or just admire your progress. Beyond just making them for fun, I've been dreaming up a practical use for future Impkins: 'Book-kins'! Imagine these little friends with magnets in their hands, holding up your favorite books. I envision them perched on shelves or desks, adding a whimsical touch to any reading nook. I'm still brainstorming the perfect tiny book pattern, complete with its own hidden magnets, but the idea of combining my love for crochet with my passion for reading is so exciting. Perhaps for these, I'll choose earthier tones for the yarn and give them scholarly accessories. The possibilities are endless, and that's the beauty of handmade crafts – you're only limited by your imagination!
