I didn’t do quite as many events as I’ve done in the past, but the ones I did do were amazing! Nerd Fest and Cosplay Extravaganza are my must attends every year (as a vendor) and I’m finally getting the swing of my cosplay game!
Book Fest was by far my most profitable. It was such a fun experience too, being surrounded by all sort of book loving people! 10/10 will definitely do next year!
I’ve already got a couple events lined up for 2025, and I can’t wait to see what comes my way!

If you're curious about diving into the local scene, whether as a cosplayer, a vendor, or just an attendee, let me share a bit more about my experience and what makes these events so special.
One of my absolute must-attends every year is the Maine Sci-Fi & Fantasy Nerd Fest. It's where I really get to stretch my cosplay wings! This year, I had so much fun bringing my Persephone/Lore Olympus cosplay to life. There's something incredibly satisfying about crafting a costume, seeing it come together, and then getting to inhabit the character for a day. The energy at Nerd Fest is always electric, with so many passionate fans and creators gathered in one place. You'll see everything from elaborate armor to intricate prop work – it's truly inspiring!
Then there's the Maine Cosplay Extravaganza, another highlight on my calendar. It’s fantastic to see familiar faces and make new friends who share a love for character creation and storytelling. I often have my vendor table for 'Jennifer Zamboni EXPLORING WHAT IF' set up at these events, which adds another layer of fun. It's not just about selling; it’s about connecting with people, hearing their stories, and seeing the joy on their faces when they find something they love. It’s a completely different vibe than just attending, but equally rewarding.
Beyond the dedicated cosplay events, Maine offers a vibrant fan culture. I also had my 'EXPLORING WHAT IF' booth at the Steampunk Festival and the Farmington Fright Fest. While these might have a slightly different theme, you'll still find incredible costumes and a fantastic sense of community. The Steampunk Festival, in particular, showcases such unique, intricate designs – it's a feast for the eyes! And Fright Fest is perfect for showcasing darker, more dramatic characters, which is always a creative challenge. Even at the Wilton Blueberry Festival, which is more general, I found opportunities to connect with people through my creations.
For anyone thinking about getting into Maine cosplay, my biggest tip is just to start! Don't feel pressured to have a perfect, screen-accurate costume right away. It's about having fun, learning, and expressing yourself. Attend a local con like Nerd Fest or the Extravaganza, observe, talk to people, and get inspired. There are so many resources online and within the community to help you with crafting techniques, sourcing materials, and even finding local meetups.
Being a vendor at these events has also taught me so much. From setting up my display to engaging with customers, each event is a learning curve. The Book Fest in Waterville, ME, for example, was an incredible experience, proving that even non-cosplay-specific events can be highly rewarding for artists and creators. The camaraderie among vendors and attendees at all these Maine events is truly special. It's about sharing passions, celebrating creativity, and making unforgettable memories. I'm already buzzing with ideas for my 2025 events and can't wait to see what new cosplays and connections await! If you see me at a booth, definitely say hello!
