Round 5 of edits!
5th round of edits and there’s still so much red pen! (Generally speaking, my 5th round is always pen and paper… but that’s a lot of red!)
And yes, it’s blurred out! No spoilers for you, cheater!
Soon, these chapters will get turned over to beta readers for critique, edits based off of that, then off for professional editing! I’m finally feeling good about things and will hopefully be putting a preorder up soon!

As writers, revising our work is an integral part of the process that ensures our narratives resonate well with readers. The editing phase is where our raw drafts transform into refined stories, ready to engage an audience. It's common to cycle through multiple rounds of edits, with each round emphasizing different aspects such as character development, plot coherence, and overall writing style. In this fifth round of edits, I find myself armed with pen and paper, scrutinizing every line and honing in on details that may have been overlooked previously. While this stage can often feel overwhelming—evidenced by the significant use of red ink—it is essential in steering the story in the right direction. I remind myself that the blur on the draft protects the surprises for future readers, maintaining the element of suspense that is often crucial in both urban fantasy and general fiction. After completing my internal revisions, I plan to share my work with beta readers. Their feedback will be invaluable; they can provide external perspectives that I might miss as the writer. The goal of these critiques is to uncover any inconsistencies or areas for further improvement that will bolster the manuscript before it heads for professional editing. As I near the completion of this round, I'm excited to reach a point of readiness for preorder announcements. This milestone not only signifies progress, but it also sets the stage for generating anticipation among potential readers. Sharing the editing journey not only brings attention to the effort put into writing but also connects with others in the community—encouraging fellow writers to embrace their editing challenges.
