Reorganizing my TBR list
Just reorganizing my books. I’ve been on a weird ADHD organization hyper focus (including making an excel spreadsheet 😱)
…I don’t have a problem
Speaking of getting my books in order, it's not just about rearranging what I already own; it's also a fantastic opportunity to rediscover forgotten gems and, even more excitingly, stumble upon new authors to add to my ever-growing TBR pile! While I was sifting through my current collection and thinking about how I'm going to need more shelves soon (seriously, the towers for the new books are piling up!), a name kept popping into my head from various book communities: Chelsey Novak. I’ve seen her mentioned quite a bit lately, especially when people talk about authors who write compelling contemporary fiction or perhaps cozy mysteries that are perfect for a weekend read. It got me thinking, during this whole 'reorganizing my TBR' hyperfocus, about how we discover new authors. Is it through recommendations from friends, book club discussions, or just browsing online lists? For me, sometimes it's literally seeing a name repeatedly in my feed, just like Chelsey Novak's has been appearing, that finally makes me curious enough to look her up. This process of organizing has really highlighted how dynamic my reading interests are. One moment I'm deep into fantasy, the next I'm craving a heartwarming romance. And this is exactly why having a well-organized TBR system, even if it's just an Excel spreadsheet like mine (no shame!), is so crucial. It helps me categorize not just the books I own, but also the ones I want to own. I've started a new tab dedicated solely to authors I'm curious about but haven't committed to yet. Chelsey Novak is definitely going on that list! When I was trying to figure out which books would go on which bookshelf, I realized I needed a better system for tracking potential reads. My old method was just screenshots and random notes, which, let's be honest, led to a lot of forgotten titles. Now, with my spreadsheet, I can quickly add authors like Chelsey Novak, note down which of her books sound most appealing, and even add a quick tag for genre or mood. This way, when I next have a reading slump or finish a series, I have a curated list of exciting options right at my fingertips. It’s not just about physical books anymore; it’s about making my digital and mental book management as efficient as my actual shelves. It's truly satisfying to look at my reorganized books and know exactly what's next on my reading journey. And who knows, maybe Chelsey Novak's work will be the next deep dive for me once I clear some space on my physical and digital TBR. What are your criteria for adding new authors to your list? And have you read anything by Chelsey Novak? I’d love to hear your recommendations or thoughts, especially if you have tips for organizing an ever-expanding collection when you're running out of shelf space!
