A #GenX novella

https://a.co/d/hx7jwMK

Something new! A short novella for the Gen Xers. Available for free with Kindle Unlimited or just $2.99 for the ebook.

When Jenna Mitchell's daughter starts sending brochures for retirement communities with "supervised activities," Jenna knows it's time to take control. Six months after losing her husband Mike, she's ready for a fresh start—but not one involving scheduled bingo and mandatory crafts.

Then she discovers Sunset Villas, a converted shopping mall where former aerobics instructors teach "Rock Star Workouts" and a silver-haired guitar teacher named Marcus leads residents through air guitar classes. It's not what the retirement brochures promised, but somehow it feels like home.

As Jenna navigates new friendships and finds herself unexpectedly drawn to Marcus, she realizes retirement isn't about slowing down, it's about finding new harmonies in life's ongoing song. From impromptu performances to talent shows featuring experimental musical fusion, Sunset Villas proves the best chapters might be the ones you never saw coming.

But when her family stages an intervention about her "lifestyle changes," Jenna must decide: Will she play it safe, or trust that love, like the best music, sometimes arrives in its own perfect time?#smallauthor #lemon8bookclub #book #book

A heartwarming story about second chances, chosen family, and the courage to keep writing new verses at any age.

2025/6/16 Edited to

As Jenna embraces her new life at Sunset Villas, she discovers a vibrant community that challenges the stereotypes of aging. From energetic dance classes to creative art sessions, this retirement oasis encourages residents to thrive. The story highlights the significance of friendship and community in overcoming life's challenges, showcasing how every stage of life holds the potential for joy and renewal. Readers will be inspired by Jenna's journey of self-discovery as she learns that age is just a number and that it's never too late to pursue happiness and love. The blend of humor and heartfelt moments makes this novella relatable and uplifting for all, especially for those in Generation X facing similar life transitions.

Dear Diary! My most popular novella.

Louisiana in the 1940s was a tough time for many people of color! Slavery may have been over, but racism was still very much alive! Getting by as best you could with whatever you were given could be challenging! You’ll meet 11 years old Doris! She didn’t have much. But her imagination took her far!
