Staycationing with a 3 months old

Staycationing with a 3 months old - possible or not?

We have plans to bring our baby to travel overseas at the end of the year, so we thought why don’t we do a trial run staycationing in Singapore to see how our baby would react. And also because we wanted to do it before I started work.

We had a fairly simple itinerary. We started out visiting the Museum of Ice Cream where we got to enjoy different types of ice cream and took photos with our baby who was in the carrier.

After that we made our way to Oasia Resort Sentosa to check-in. We requested for a baby cot but we realised it wasn’t adjustable so it ended up being an extra area for us to put our stuff, and baby slept with us on the bed.

After resting for a bit, we came out to Vivocity to buy some snacks as we were feeling peckish, and headed back. I slot in a pump session before heading for dinner at Ka-mon. That’s a review for another day.

We rested and ended off the staycation the next day by having lunch at Bedrock before going home.

Here’s a couple of things that I think helped made our staycation generally fuss-free:

1. Lollababy Milk Warmer

- This allowed us to heat up milk for our baby on the go and whenever he was hungry. It takes just 5 mins to warm up the milk.

2. 59 seconds sterilizer

- This is a UV sterilizer with a drying function. It takes just 3 minutes to sterilize, and if you are looking to dry bottle, pump parts, it takes a total of 1 hour. This helps us reduce the number of bottles we had to bring along. We just had to bring along the baby liquid soap and a brush and we could wash the bottles and re-use them.

3. Cooler bag with ice pack

- I got mine on shopee, and I brought along an icepack to keep the milk cold. Each ice pack can keep cool for 12 hours. It’s manageable if you use the expressed milk for baby’s subsequent feeding sessions while out.

Overall, the staycation was a success, although some asked me if the staycation was for ourselves or for baby since we seemed to enjoy more than baby.

... Read moreWhen considering a staycation with a young infant, choosing a baby-friendly accommodation is essential. Look for family resorts or hotels in Singapore that offer facilities like baby changing rooms, stroller rentals, and quiet environments that cater to infants' needs. Such amenities can make your stay more comfortable and stress-free. It's also vital to pack wisely, bringing along items that will keep your baby comfortable and your routine consistent. For example, a portable milk warmer is incredibly handy to have on hand for late-night or on-the-go feedings. Additionally, using a UV sterilizer helps maintain hygiene by quickly disinfecting bottles and pump parts, which is crucial when traveling. Engaging in gentle activities like visiting family-friendly museums or leisurely walks in parks can keep both parents and the baby entertained without overwhelming your little one. Remember that downtime is important; building in rest periods during your staycation helps your baby adjust and prevents overtiredness. Moreover, consider the weather and plan accordingly—Singapore's tropical climate means keeping your infant cool and hydrated is important. A cooler bag with ice packs for storing expressed milk or baby food can be a real lifesaver. Finally, traveling with a 3-month-old often leads to questions about who the staycation is for. It’s perfectly normal for parents to enjoy some relaxation time while bonding with their baby. Staycations are a wonderful way to create family memories early on while testing out travel logistics before longer trips.

Best JB staycation at this hotel 💯
As a frequent jb-goer, I’ve stayed in many different airbnb’s and hotel in JB and this one is by far the best. I booked two nights for the deluxe king room (most basic room) but got a free room upgrade to their one bedroom deluxe suite. It was $186 for two nights (weekdays). 📍Capri by Fraser
