Let’s go girls 💅🏻 (tips for views below)

This was the vid that *finally* got me to break my usual 1K views ceiling on Tik Tok (20k! And I have one that’s 60k+ right now!). After months of trial and error posting I think I’ve gotten the formula down. Here are some tips:

1) Focus on quality over quantity. If you *really* put your energy into a vid, people can tell and will be impressed enough to stay watching.

2) Use a bold hook that’s familiar and keeps viewers guessing what’s coming next. My thing is to use typographic hooks.

Some of my best examples being: “Weird chicks in your area,” “Does your boyfriend look at other women?” “Fashion school dropout” “Are you real?”

These are great foreshadowing tools that don’t reveal too much about what’s going to happen next, but get the viewer to ask some questions to themself about what will.

3) For highly unique, weird videos, using an instantly recognizable song helps generate comments (the more comments, the higher you go up in the algorithm) and give it a familiar spin. It doesn’t *have* to be used for a weird video, but if you are creating content that’s wildly different, having some element of familiarity is helpful.

So for this one I used “Let’s go girls” and had A TON of people comment saying just that.

Same for my latest 60k+ vid. At the end I had a snip-it from “That Don’t Impress Me Much” and many people commented either laughing about its usage or mentioning Shania.

4) Hone your editing skills. I use CapCut and there are so many special effects on there that it’s impossible *not* to make an eye catching vid if you know how to use the right tools. The ones I use the most are keyframes, background removal, custom captions, and animation. More on this later!

5) Create your own signature. It’s important to make your videos have a look so that the viewer will instantly know it’s your video. To achieve this I use the same font in all of my vids as well as setting my camera up in a few of the same spots in my room.

Even the room itself can generate comments!! I’ve had viewers comment on how mine looks like the room from Paranormal Activity. And again, comments are important.

6) Put yourself in the mind of the viewer before you post. Oftentimes I ask myself if I would share this to a friend and why, because shares are like comments: the more you have, the higher you go up in the algorithm.

So for this video.. why would you share it to a friend? Well, maybe they like Shania Twain or horror videos. If you can easily think of at least two reasons, you’re good to go.

7) Make every part of your video impactful, especially if your video is not informational. Since these are short videos, you must make sure every part is an essential part. Don’t give the viewer a reason to stop watching. The more viewers that watch your video in full, the higher you go up in the algorithm.

8) Lastly, ENGAGE. I constantly engage with commenters and have even made a lot of friends. If you engage with a good section of your viewers regularly, they’ll be more prone to like and comment (even if it’s a subpar video), simply because they like you. And being likable is definitely one of the most important things.

If you have any questions or comments, drop a line below! Always glad to help, especially being someone who almost gave up on this because of frustrations breaking through the “views ceiling.” 🫶🏻
