Mom Guilt is Real Real!

Lately I’ve been having horrible mom guilt. I haven’t been to the gym in moths, I don’t get my hair or nails done, and I’ve neglected my friendships. It’s caught up to me and I feel burnt out. I fill everyone’s cup but my own. I know that I need to take care of myself before anyone else but I can’t shake that feeling away, like somehow taking care of myself means time taken away from my kids. Ive gained weight from stress eating and my skin is screaming for help. I’m just so mentally and emotionally drained. I love my kids but I need to love me. Hope this feeling goes away soon.

... Read moreMom guilt is a common struggle faced by many mothers, often leading to feelings of anxiety, stress, and inadequacy. Balancing personal care with family duties can seem overwhelming. Acknowledging these feelings is the first step toward finding relief. It's essential to understand that self-care isn't selfish; it ultimately benefits your family by allowing you to be a happier and healthier mom. To combat mom guilt, consider creating a self-care routine. This might include setting aside a few moments each day for activities that make you feel good, such as reading, exercising, or engaging in a hobby. Additionally, connecting with other mothers can provide support and a sense of community. Sharing experiences with friends or joining parenting groups can help alleviate feelings of isolation. Remember that recognizing when you need a break is vital to maintaining mental health. Don’t hesitate to reach out for help from family or friends, whether it's for childcare or simply to vent about your feelings. Prioritizing mental health through practices like mindfulness and meditation also offers significant benefits. Integrating these strategies into your daily routine can help ease feelings of guilt and improve overall well-being. It's important to remember that caring for yourself first is one of the best ways to fill the cups of those you love. Start small; each step towards self-care matters and contributes to your journey in overcoming mom guilt.
