how to manually check films in incheon airport

i’ve been to korea a few times now and my films ALWAYS get rejected from hand checks! so i found out from my friends recently that this notice will not only grant hand checks, but still allow for a smooth and efficient security check in korea airports!

so i tried it out, and it finally WORKS! save this for the next time you go to korea with your films~

Incheon International Airport

To prevent this, it’s essential to politely request a manual inspection at the security checkpoint. One effective method is to carry a clear plastic bag containing your films along with a printed notice (often available online or visible at airports) explaining that your bag contains photosensitive films that must not be exposed to CT scans. This notice, as depicted in various airport instructions, asks the security staff to handle your films with care by inspecting them manually. When you approach the checkpoint, politely show the notice and explain that the films are professional photographic materials sensitive to X-ray damage. Most security personnel are understanding once they recognize the notice or hear the explanation. Additionally, planning extra time during security check can reduce stress since manual inspections may take longer. For smoother passage, keep your films easily accessible and inform your travel companions on why manual inspection is important. If you are flying through Gimpo Airport or other Korean airports, similar procedures apply, and having this notice ready can accelerate the fast track process without risking your films. Through this approach, I have successfully safeguarded my photosensitive films on multiple visits to Korea, ensuring they remain intact for my creative projects.
