Hey everyone! Since this is my very first official post on Lemon8, I wanted to dive a little deeper than just a quick hashtag. I know the app is still new to me, and I'm figuring out all the cool ways to share, but I'm genuinely excited to connect with other Genshin Impact fans and especially fellow cosplayers here! Choosing Keqing as my first big Genshin Impact cosplay was a decision fueled purely by admiration. Seriously, her character design is just *chef's kiss*! I absolutely adore her elegant yet powerful aesthetic, her role as the Yuheng of the Liyue Qixing, and how she balances her duties with a strong sense of justice. Her Electro abilities in the game are so dynamic and flashy, and I always thought her signature purple and gold outfit with those intricate details was just breathtaking. I couldn't wait to try and bring her intricate look to life, even if it seemed a bit daunting at first. Getting all the elements for Keqing together was definitely a journey, especially as someone relatively new to the cosplay scene. The first hurdle was finding the perfect costume. I spent weeks scrolling through different sellers, comparing fabric quality and accuracy of the details like her intricate sleeves and layered skirt. It's amazing how many tiny elements Keqing has, from her delicate hair ornaments to the specific patterns on her attire! I really wanted to do her justice. Then came the wig – oh, the wig! Keqing's hair is iconic with its twin buns, long braids, and a unique gradient. Finding a base wig that was the right shade of lavender-purple was one thing, but then styling it... that was a whole other adventure. I watched countless YouTube tutorials on how to create her voluminous buns and weave in those long, flowing braids without making it look messy. It took a lot of hairspray, Bobby pins, and more than a few frustrated moments, but seeing it finally come together was incredibly satisfying. Each strand felt like a piece of the puzzle. And let's not forget the makeup! Achieving Keqing's sharp, elegant eye look, coupled with her subtle blush and lip color, required a lot of practice. I focused on getting that perfect winged eyeliner and making sure my brows mirrored her confident expression. It's incredible how much makeup can transform your face to match a character's features. I learned so much about contouring and highlighting just trying to capture her regal yet approachable vibe. To anyone thinking about starting their own cosplay journey, especially with a detailed character like Keqing, my biggest advice is to break it down. Don't get overwhelmed by the entire ensemble at once. Focus on one piece of the costume, one aspect of the makeup, or one styling challenge at a time. Celebrate the small victories, like getting a braid just right or finding the perfect accessory. Also, don't be afraid to reach out to the cosplay community! There are so many amazing resources, tutorials, and supportive people online who are happy to share their wisdom. It's truly a learning process, and the most important thing is to have fun and embody a character you genuinely love and admire.
