MELT SEASON - trying out China perfume brands

Probably the last post of my Shanghai series —

I love perfumes! 🫶🏻 and I probably have one too many but told myself that I need to try at least one from China just sort of as a “commemorative” gift haha.

Went to try out many different popular brands like To Summer, Documents and BEAST but we still preferred the scents from Melt Season!

The other brands’ scents were pretty unique and although I do like trying to be experimental, they were a little too pricey to buy just for fun🤪 Melt Season scents were more up my alley so 💸!

We went to the store at Jing An Kerry Center (which also has Documents & BEAST). The staff was super friendly and helpful, which I think really spurred our purchase as well.

Their most popular scents were ONE DAY & NOBODY KNOWS but I thought One Day has a very strong tea scent - almost like spraying Chagee 🤣 and Nobody Knows is probably an acquired scent.. I ended up choosing DEJA VU which was one of their more recent perfumes. It boasts a more clean and fresh scent which was what I personally prefer (other than florals) so I thought it would be a good everyday perfume that I won’t get too sick of.

Because they were having a promo, we also got to choose two more scents in 8ml sizes! I got both bottles in another scent VEIL also because of the clean fragrance, and it smells like familiar skin. I’ve been using this in the last week and I really like it! The staff was also very kind enough to give us two extra 1.5ml so I got ONE DAY and MERI (a more wintery scent).

Packaging wise, Melt Season is definitely more simple compared to the other brands but I would say it’s more elegant? The bottle cap also has a magnetic snapping mechanism.

... Read moreIf you're curious about Melt Season and its presence beyond Shanghai, it's worth noting that while the brand is deeply rooted in Shanghai, it also reaches fragrance enthusiasts in cities like Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, and Chongqing. For those interested in visiting or contacting the Melt Season headquarters, it’s centered in Shanghai, often regarded as a hub for innovative fragrance brands in China. Melt Season offers a refreshing alternative to more commonly known Western perfumes, with scent profiles that blend natural elements like pink pepper, sea salt, musk, and floral notes. One highlight that caught my attention was the Deja Vu scent, featuring top notes of pear and pink pepper, middle layers of frankincense and rose, and base notes of rice bran and musk. This gives the perfume a balanced, clean yet warm aura perfect for everyday use. For shoppers wondering about accessibility, Melt Season perfumes are increasingly available in major department stores and select boutiques across key Chinese cities. Their packaging may be simple compared to other luxury brands, but the elegant magnetic cap design adds a touch of sophistication. As a personal tip, taking advantage of promotions as I did allowed me to explore multiple scents without a hefty investment, which I’d recommend for anyone new to the brand. Overall, Melt Season not only provides distinct fragrances reflecting modern Chinese perfumery but also a shopping experience enhanced by welcoming staff at locations like Jing An Kerry Center.
