So me and my friend had a book day in the park. I finished up reading Crash by Frieda McFadden and she started Reel by Kennedy Ryan (which I’ll be starting next so we can read together.)
Crash was amazing, honestly all of Big Frieda’s books are the twist at the end blew me away!! What are you reading?
... Read moreOkay, so let's deep dive a little more into why 'The Crash' by Freida McFadden completely captivated me. If you're a fan of psychological thrillers with jaw-dropping twists, this is an absolute must-read. Every time I thought I had it figured out, Freida threw another curveball that left me questioning everything I thought I knew. What I love about her writing, and why so many 'crash readers' (like me!) are utterly obsessed, is how she masterfully builds suspense from the very first page. You're constantly questioning motives, and the characters, despite their sometimes outlandish situations, feel incredibly real and complex, even when they're making questionable choices. Finishing it felt like a mental marathon, in the most exhilarating way possible! My trusty e-reader was practically glued to my hands from start to finish. The way she crafts those endings is just unparalleled; you truly never see them coming, which is why her books always leave such a lasting impression.
Speaking of new literary adventures, I'm super hyped to be starting 'Reel' by Kennedy Ryan next. It's a completely different vibe – a contemporary romance with a focus on music and powerful emotions – but sometimes you just need to switch gears after a high-intensity thriller, right? It's like cleansing your reading palate! My friend and I are doing a buddy read, which I highly recommend. There's something incredibly special about experiencing a story together, being able to pause and discuss plot twists, character developments, or swoon-worthy moments as you go. It adds another layer to the reading experience and helps you appreciate different perspectives. Plus, it's great motivation to keep reading!
Our 'book day' in the park was just what the doctor ordered. There's nothing quite like settling down with a good book outdoors, whether it's a gripping thriller like 'The Crash' or a heartwarming physical book titled 'Reel'. I find that changing up my reading environment keeps things fresh. Sometimes I crave the convenience of my e-reader, especially for those heavier thrillers I can't put down, and other times I love the tactile sensation of turning pages in a beautiful physical copy, immersing myself completely. My essentials for a perfect outdoor reading session? A comfy blanket to spread out on the grass, a refreshing cold drink (those tumblers in the photo are a must!), some good headphones if I want to block out distractions, and, of course, my current read. It’s a perfect mini-escape from the everyday hustle and bustle of life, a chance to truly disconnect and get lost in a story.
For all you fellow bookworms and 'crash readers' out there, I'd love to hear your thoughts! What are your go-to essentials for creating your perfect reading haven, wherever that may be? Do you prefer a quiet corner at home, a bustling coffee shop, the tranquility of a park, or somewhere else entirely? And specifically, what are your absolute favorite Freida McFadden books, or any other psychological thrillers that left you completely speechless? I'm always on the hunt for my next literary obsession and love getting recommendations from fellow readers. Sharing our favorite stories is one of the best parts of being in a reading community!
I want to read the crash! Also, book day in the park sounds amazing
