Why I made 50 lipbalms✨
Since my daughter was 6, she's been obsessed with lip balm (and she's turning 16 this year—lol!). As an autistic child, she doesn't actually need it as much as she uses it, but the sensory comfort it provides is invaluable. Over the years, we've noticed red bumps around her lips, clearly a rash from the fragrances, flavors, and other harmful ingredients in store-bought brands. Plus, it gets expensive to keep buying them as frequently as she uses them!
So, I decided to make my own. Now, she no longer gets rashes, and I love making them because they’re not only better for her but also super affordable! She enjoys them and loves choosing the scents she wants to try.
(I know they come in plastic tubes, but I’m just happy she’s willing to use my homemade versions, so I’m not going to stress about that!)
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons shea butter
- 4 tablespoons organic coconut oil
- 2 tablespoons castor oil
- 3 tablespoons beeswax
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essential oil
