Minecraft Question Day 25
When you tunnel, do you go back and add any flare to them? #minecraft #xroggvs #over50 #asklemon8🍋
Hey fellow RLCraft survivors! If you've just started this modpack, you know it's a brutal world out there. My first few attempts were disastrous until I learned the absolute necessity of establishing a 'friendly outpost.' This isn't just any base; it's your sanctuary, your safe zone, and the foundation for any successful RLCraft run. Without one, you're just dragon fodder! Why a Friendly Outpost is Your Lifeline In RLCraft, everything wants to kill you – from enhanced vanilla mobs to terrifying Lycanites creatures, harsh weather, and even thirst/hunger mechanics. A secure outpost allows you to: Process Resources Safely: Craft, smelt, and organize without constant fear. Rest and Recover: Sleep through perilous nights and skip extreme weather. Store Valuables: Keep your precious loot safe from despawning or explosions. Strategize: Plan your next dangerous expedition from a position of relative calm. Finding the Perfect Spot: Location is Everything Choosing where to build is critical. Here’s what I always look for: Biome Selection: I usually aim for plains, forests, or savanna. They tend to have fewer immediate threats than deserts, tundras, or oceans, and offer easier access to crucial early resources like wood and water. Natural Protection: Look for existing cliffs, small hills, or natural enclosures. These can save you immense effort in building initial defenses. A small cave entrance can also be a discreet and safe starting point. Resource Proximity: Ensure you have readily available wood, stone (from nearby mountains or digging), and a water source. Having some passive mobs like sheep or cows nearby for wool and leather is a huge bonus. Avoid Danger Zones: Steer clear of obvious structures like Battle Towers, dungeons, or ruined houses initially, as these often harbor powerful spawners or dangerous mobs that you can't handle yet. Building Your Early Game Sanctuary Once you've picked a spot, focus on functional safety over aesthetics. Basic Enclosure: A simple 3x3 or 5x5 box made of dirt, wood, or cobblestone is perfect. Ensure it's at least 3 blocks high internally to prevent mob entry and has a complete roof. Light It Up: RLCraft is *dark*, and mobs spawn easily. Place torches generously inside and create a well-lit perimeter around your outpost to establish a safe zone. Prioritize this! Essential Workstations: Craft a workbench, furnace, and at least one chest immediately. These are non-negotiable for progression. The All-Important Bed: Find three wool (from sheep or by breaking cobwebs) and craft a bed. Setting your spawn point and skipping nights is a game-changer for survival and sanity. Water Source: Dig a simple 2x2 infinite water source within or right beside your base. Staying hydrated is vital. Basic Food Supply: Start a small, enclosed farm with found seeds, or set up a small animal pen. A consistent food source is crucial for health regeneration. Fortifying Your Friendly Outpost Even a basic base needs some early defenses. Perimeter Walls: A simple fence or low wall around your immediate base can deter most ground mobs. Upgrade to stone walls as you gather materials. Secure Entrance: Standard wooden doors are weak. Consider crafting reinforced doors, or use a clever trapdoor entrance where mobs struggle to pathfind. High Ground Advantage: If your outpost is on a hill, use the elevation. Mobs often struggle to climb, giving you a safe vantage point. Bunker Down: For ultimate early-game safety, digging a small underground bunker, thoroughly lit, can protect you from almost everything topside. Your friendly outpost will be your anchor in the chaotic world of RLCraft. Start simple, prioritize security, and you'll slowly but surely conquer this incredibly challenging modpack. Happy surviving!
