Bacon Cheeseburger (Part 1/2)
Just another obnoxiously tall burger 🤣
Season ground beef w/ s&p but instead of making a ball to smash, stuff it with smoked cheddar 😆
Crisp up some bacon and garlic then cook the burger in the garlicky bacon fat, then use an onion to make a ring to hold an egg and fry that in the beef fat.
Cook some onions until they start to turn color then deglaze w/ honey whiskey, add garlic, simmer until fragrant, and fill the rest of the onion/egg ring with the whiskey onions.
Toss the burger around in what's left of the whiskey glaze in the pan, add cheese, bacon, the egg/onion filled ring, & top w/ fried garlic. Give it a squish or unhinge your jaw and enjoy! 🤣
Don't forget to make your dogs some burger treats! I didn't have mini buns so they got lettuce and carrots 😁
Making a bacon cheeseburger with such rich and flavorful ingredients truly elevates the burger experience. From my own cooking adventures, incorporating smoked cheddar inside the patty adds a delightful surprise of melted cheese with every bite, making the burger juicier and more indulgent. Cooking the patty in the bacon and garlic fat not only crisps the meat beautifully but infuses it with amazing aroma and savory depth that’s hard to beat. A special twist is using an onion ring as a vessel for a fried egg and whiskey-glazed onions. The process of deglazing the onions with honey whiskey creates a subtle sweetness balanced by the smoky and salty bacon elements—the honey whiskey glaze adds a layered, caramelized flavor that harmonizes all the savory components. For anyone new to whiskey-infused cooking, starting with small amounts and simmering gently helps mellow the alcohol and deepen the taste. Additionally, frying the egg in the beef fat adds richness and keeps the egg tender but flavorful, complementing the whole stack perfectly. The crunchy garlic bits scattered on top provide an irresistible texture contrast. If you’re concerned about making this burger approachable, consider these tips: use fresh, quality ground beef with a good fat ratio (around 20%) for juicy patties; don’t overstuff with cheese to avoid too much mess; and prepare your onion rings thick enough to hold the egg and fillings without breaking. Finally, it’s thoughtful to prepare something for your pets like lettuce and carrots if buns are unavailable, fostering a shared mealtime pleasure! This recipe perfectly combines classic American flavors with gourmet twists, making it an impressive dish for weekend gatherings or a special treat. Enjoy experimenting with your own variations—perhaps trying different cheeses, or using alternative spirits for the glaze—this burger recipe welcomes creativity while ensuring a memorable, mouthwatering meal.
