why was i putting food on the table

... Read moreLife often makes us question our choices and what we truly want to achieve. Before turning thirty, many of us reflect deeply on where we stand in relationships and our personal growth. I remember catching myself thinking about the sacrifices I made, like the feeling of "doing wifey things at girlfriend wages," which means putting in more effort and care without receiving the same value or commitment in return. These moments often lead to feelings of confusion and self-doubt, wondering if the love we give will ever be reciprocated or if we'll ever find a lasting partnership. It's normal to ask ourselves, "Will I ever get married?" or "What do I do with this heart that only got hurt from giving love?" These questions come from a place of vulnerability but also show our longing for emotional fulfillment. From personal experience, embracing self-love and understanding your worth is crucial before you can expect a healthy and balanced relationship. Sometimes, we put so much energy into caring for others that we forget to care for ourselves. Putting "food on the table" is not just a metaphor for providing physically but also emotionally nurturing oneself through life's hardships and experiences. The process of self-reflection, learning from hurts, and setting boundaries are all part of growing stronger. It's important to surround yourself with support systems—friends, family, or communities—that uplift you. Remember, it's okay to pause and focus on your own healing journey. In navigating these personal challenges, I found journaling and open conversations helpful to gain clarity. Sharing your story with others can break isolation and provide new perspectives. Ultimately, the path to happiness involves finding balance between giving love and protecting your heart, ensuring that your efforts are valued and that you recognize your inherent worth.
