How to find your way in art:Figure Drawing edition

Hello everyone! Today I have a few little tips about how to find your way through improving as an artist☺️💕. I myself have some improving to do as well, however, these are things that I found very helpful in my journey!✨

First off, I would like to say that art is NOT easy. It took me 15 years to learn what I know now, not saying that it will be that way for everyone, but it’s important that you take the time to practice. A lot of people think that if they don’t get art 100% right the first time trying it that it’s not something that they should do. Keep trying! It’s okay to make mistakes y’all, we’re human and everything is not going to be perfect. It’s about the drive and the confidence that you have within yourself that will keep you going! I believe that everyone has the ability to do art. It matters if you think that you can do it.

1) looking at references

Looking at references is really helpful especially when you are trying to draw a character in your own art style. It’s great to take your time and really analyze a real person doing a specific pose or making a specific facial expression that way you get an idea of what it could look like. Doing this over and over helps you memorize how a certain position could be. It’s okay to do this without knowing anatomy yet, it’s great to practice practice practice! Just look at the photo and try to get all the forms down as best as you can.

2) try to learn anatomy! There are books on this but if you don’t want to do that, you can always go on Pinterest and look at some that other people did OR you can go on YouTube because there are a few on there that are very helpful. I really liked this video by Richard Smitherman: https://youtu.be/gpH8T2CRlLI?si=62JIVsxCyN8xl27p

3) look at other art styles

sometimes I look at these to gain inspiration, which to me is completely okay! I didn’t start of trying to draw realistic faces, I started off looking at anime characters and other artists’ artwork to get ideas! I even tried my own stuff. It’s okay to have fun with it too, don’t stress yourself out too much. I personally like likelihoodarts drawings, she’s a big inspiration to me and her YouTube videos help: https://youtu.be/OXYnOhsgaEE?si=GHyj7HaFJULvVY9j

Hopefully I helped somebody out there, I know I missed a lot but this for me is the basics❤️please comment down below if you have any other suggestions for learning art! I would love to hear it😚🩷🌸
