Born Super Rarely Disabled
Living with a rare disability from birth brings many unique challenges that require immense courage and determination. After undergoing 13 surgeries and spending extra time in the hospital, I faced a difficult road to recovery, including 7 months of muscle atrophy that made using my phone and performing everyday tasks a struggle. One of the hardest parts was coping with the physical limitations while trying to maintain a sense of normalcy and independence. Throughout this journey, I learned that perseverance and a strong support network are crucial. Small victories, like regaining the ability to hold my phone again, became deeply meaningful milestones. Sharing my experience has helped me connect with others who face similar hurdles and gave me a platform to raise awareness about living with rare disabilities. Embracing the ups and downs of recovery taught me the importance of patience and self-compassion. Physical therapy and consistent effort gradually improved my mobility, proving that progress is possible even under the toughest circumstances. The hashtags #bornrarelydisabled, #disabled, #stillthebossbabe, and #goodpeoplestillexist reflect the mixed emotions of struggle, empowerment, and hope that color this journey. For anyone facing long-term medical challenges, remember that each day is a chance to improve and every small step forward is a victory. Connecting with communities online and offline helps combat isolation and fosters encouragement. My story is just one of many, and by sharing it, I hope to inspire others to stay strong and keep pushing forward despite obstacles.
