When I first decided to dive into the Book of Genesis, I felt a little overwhelmed, but I quickly discovered how much joy I could get from really digging in! Beyond just reading, making my Bible a personal study journal has been a game-changer. I wanted to share some more practical tips on how I make my Genesis study pages come alive, especially since a lot of you asked about the highlights and notes you see in my pictures! One of my favorite ways to engage with Genesis is through colorful highlights. I've developed a simple color-coding system that helps me spot key themes at a glance. For instance, I use a bright blue for anything related to God's promises or covenant – you'll find so many of these throughout Genesis, from Abraham to Noah! A soft green often marks passages about creation and the natural world, while a warm yellow is perfect for highlighting specific commands or instructions from God. For key characters and their stories, like Abraham, Sarah, Joseph, or Jacob, I might use a pastel pink or orange. It makes reviewing so much easier and helps me trace themes like God's relationship with people through generations. Beyond just highlighting, handwritten notes on Genesis are where the real learning happens for me. I love using the margins of my Bible to jot down quick observations, questions that come to mind, or cross-references to other scriptures. Sometimes, I'll even write a short prayer inspired by a verse! Don't worry about perfect handwriting; it's about making it personal. When I come across important details about the authorship or timeline of Genesis, I'll make a special note of it, perhaps with a little asterisk. And those sticky notes you often see? They're my secret weapon for longer thoughts, prayer requests, or passages I want to revisit quickly without cluttering the main text. I use different sizes and colors to categorize them – a small flag for a verse to memorize, a larger one for a passage I want to deeply meditate on. Using bible tabs has also been incredibly helpful. For Genesis, I have a dedicated tab, but I also have tabs for Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers, which are often connected in early Bible study. They save so much time when I’m flipping between books to compare stories or prophecies. When I'm studying, I keep my Bible open to the Genesis page I'm focusing on, often with a cross paperclip marking my spot or a particularly meaningful verse. It's truly a visual journey of faith! Remember, your open Bible displays handwritten notes are a reflection of your unique walk with God. There's no right or wrong way, just what helps you connect best with His word. Whether you're focusing on the majestic themes of God's sovereignty or the intricate family dramas, making your study interactive with highlights and notes will deepen your understanding and appreciation for this foundational book. Happy studying!

For a while…I was looking for different reading plans and something was like just start in Genesis. Start from the beginning and work your way through. So every night I read a chapter or two in Genesis. I absolutely love it.
