Grief & Coping 🤍
I’ve been wanting to share a few things that have been aiding in my journey through grief. It’s almost been a full year since losing a parent & it truly is the hardest thing I’ve ever been through.
But day by day I’m still pushing, and I can only give Thanks to God for it. So here’s a few things I’ve been doing, that I hope could help someone else too. 🤎
1. If you have faith, if you believe in God seek him first. -My faith/relationship w/ God has been tested like no other, but I continue to seek him through all my struggle and sorrow. It is not on my own that I continue to get up each day and preserve.
2. Lean on community
- I struggled with this bc I keep to myself a lot, but community truly is so important. We all share the same experiences, there’s someone out there who will walk through the storm with you I promise.
3. Reading/Podcast that are grief based
- This sort of goes back to community. Hearing others speak about their own grief.. how they manage, the ups and downs it makes this journey just a bit less lonely.
4. Pursuing new hobbies
- I lost a part of myself through my loss and learning to reinvent/rediscover who I am has been hard but so worth it.
5. Giving myself grace
“Some days will hurt, some days will heal” allowing myself to feel the feels of it all when I need to. Not holding it all in. Reminding myself, just one day at a time.

Grief is a deeply personal experience that affects everyone differently. Seeking support from community resources can significantly alleviate the feeling of isolation. Joining support groups, engaging in discussions with friends who've experienced loss, or participating in workshops can be powerful tools. Additionally, utilizing grief-based literature and podcasts can illuminate various coping strategies shared by others who have faced similar challenges. The act of journaling can also serve as a therapeutic outlet, allowing individuals to express their emotions freely and reflect on their personal growth during grief. Pursuing new hobbies not only helps in distraction but also fosters a sense of identity and belonging as one begins the journey of rediscovery. Remember, taking it one day at a time is crucial; allowing yourself to grieve and feel the full range of emotions is part of the healing process. Self-compassion is equally important, as it reminds us that it’s okay to have difficult days. In moments of deep sorrow, returning to spiritual practices or faith can provide comfort. Engaging in prayer, meditation, or mindfulness can create moments of peace amid chaos. Lastly, it's vital to acknowledge the enduring nature of grief—it does not simply fade away. Each person’s path through grief is unique, and it’s essential to honor your trajectory while recognizing the potential for healing and hope.
