My first ever facial🧖🏾‍♀️GLOWBAR Chelsea

I’ve never been a girl to care too much about my skincare routine, I stick to the basics and I’m content! Thank you CeraVe & CorZx

Well this facial might have changed that! Let’s start with the price point at $100 with tip included for a 30 minute facial, it’s pretty decent for NYC!

You walk in and instantly the staff is welcoming they quickly showed me where to wash my face and set up before my treatment.

💡 Make sure to show up at least 5 minutes before your scheduled time to make the most out of it.

Once in the room, your facialist will walk you through the different treatments they have, dermaplaning caught my eye instantly.

💡 I do wish she would have told me that it would take up the whole appointment, I think if I would have known I probably would have gone with the basic first timer treatment instead 🤷🏻‍♀️

After dermaplaning she did a microcurrent wand treatment and ended w a hydrating jelly mask & hot towel. Both very nice and relaxing!

💡 The place has an open format so it was a bit harder to relax when you can hear others chatting

She ended the treatment with a vitamin a moisturizer which ultimately made my skin burn so she gracefully removed it! Thank god I said something instead of letting it be 😭 she didn’t want to leave me bare so she placed a good amount of sunscreen and that felt great!

She then recommend two products for the redness on my lower cheeks and fine lines along my mouth, something I kind of always ignored but appreciated her honesty.

Skincare can be sooo tedious with so many products out there so I appreciated her recommending the

The Anua Azelaic Acid 10 Hyaluron Redness Soothing Serum & La Roche-Posay Effaclar Adapalene Gel 0.1%

Has anybody tried either of them?

Overall for a casual facial bar I’d rate GlowBar a 4/5. The service was great and so was the staff, I just think if I want to spend $100 treating myself I’d rather get a massage or my toes done 💅🏼

Read moreAfter my first facial experience at GLOWBAR Chelsea, I found myself more aware of the importance of tailored skincare routines, especially when it involves treatments like dermaplaning and microcurrent therapy. Dermaplaning, while fantastic for exfoliation and giving skin an instant glow, can be quite intensive and may require some recovery time, which I wasn’t fully prepared for initially. For anyone considering this treatment, it’s important to understand that it might take up your entire appointment and leave your skin temporarily red but noticeably brighter, just as I experienced. The microcurrent wand treatment and hydrating jelly mask that followed were relaxing and helped soothe my skin after exfoliation. However, the open layout of the facial bar might make it a bit challenging to completely unwind if you’re sensitive to ambient noise, so I recommend bringing calming music through earphones or scheduling at less busy times. One major takeaway from my facial was how crucial it is to communicate with your esthetician, especially if a product causes discomfort. The vitamin A moisturizer caused a burning sensation, and thankfully the therapist promptly removed it and applied sunscreen instead. This reminds me that everyone’s skin reacts differently, and being proactive about how you feel during treatments can prevent irritation. Post-facial, I was advised to try The Anua Azelaic Acid 10 Hyaluron Redness Soothing Serum and La Roche-Posay Effaclar Adapalene Gel 0.1% for targeted concerns like redness and fine lines—both common issues I hadn’t paid much attention to before. I’ve started incorporating these products into my routine and have noticed gradual improvements. For people with sensitive or reactive skin, azelaic acid is known to reduce redness and calm inflammation, while adapalene gel serves as an effective retinoid alternative for addressing fine lines and acne. Overall, while a $100 facial in NYC is a reasonable price point, I found that for treating myself, I might opt for other pampering services like massages or mani-pedis in the future, but I do appreciate GLOWBAR’s welcoming atmosphere and knowledgeable staff. If you’re a skincare newbie like me, balancing the excitement of trying new treatments with realistic expectations is key. If you decide to visit GLOWBAR Chelsea or try dermaplaning, make sure to arrive early, voice any concerns during the session, and follow up with recommended products suited for your skin type. This approach really helped me get the most out of my first facial experience and encouraged me to rethink my basic skincare routine.
