This or That? Reading habits edition 👓
Which one is your reading habit?
I absolutely love playing 'This or That' when it comes to reading, because it really makes you think about what creates your unique 'reading habit aesthetic'! We all have those little routines and preferences that make our bookish world feel just right. For me, creating that perfect reading vibe is almost as important as the story itself, and it often involves a beautiful stack of books waiting to be devoured. Let's dive into some of those choices, because each one contributes to our overall reading experience and aesthetic. Indoor Reading vs. Outdoor Reading: Oh, this is a tough one! When I'm craving a super cozy vibe, nothing beats my indoor reading nook. I've got my favorite blanket, a soft lamp (definitely a lamp, though I adore the glow of candles for a truly atmospheric vibe at night!), and usually a comforting mug of tea – though sometimes a strong coffee is needed for those intense thrillers. I love seeing my stack of books neatly arranged on a shelf nearby, ready for their moment. But then there’s the allure of outdoor reading! Imagine a sunny park bench or a quiet spot in the garden. It’s a completely different kind of aesthetic, more fresh and invigorating, perfect for a lighter romance novel or a quick read during the day. Read at Night vs. Read at Day: My heart usually leans towards reading at night. There's something magical about settling down when the world is quiet, maybe with a gentle bedside lamp on, getting lost in a story before bed. It feels like a private escape. However, I often find myself grabbing a book during the day too, especially if I'm trying to finish a gripping novel by a New York Times Bestselling Author like Emily Henry or Sarah J. Maas. Daytime reading often involves more natural light and can feel more productive, while nighttime is pure indulgence. Bookmarks vs. Dog-eared: This is a classic! Personally, I’m a bookmarks person all the way. I collect pretty ones, and they add to the aesthetic of my reading experience. There’s something special about marking your progress with a beautiful design. But I totally get the freedom of dog-eared pages – sometimes you just need to jump back into the story without fumbling for a marker! Read in Bed vs. Read on Sofa: My ultimate comfort zone is reading in bed. It’s the perfect end to a long day, propped up with pillows, sinking into the story. But my sofa is a close second, especially if I’m having a reading marathon and need a bit more space to spread out my snacks and drinks! Both create a wonderfully relaxed aesthetic. Lots of Genres vs. One Genre: I tend to be a "lots of genres" reader! I love the variety. One day I’m deep into a fantasy world, the next I’m laughing with a romance novel, and then perhaps exploring a thought-provoking literary fiction. A diverse collection of books on my shelves definitely contributes to my overall bookish aesthetic, showing a broad love for stories. Ultimately, your 'reading habit aesthetic' is all about personal preference. Whether you’re a slow reader savoring every word or a fast reader devouring books, whether you’re always with tea or always with coffee, or if your reading area is dressed up or you’re in your comfiest PJ's, it’s about creating a space and routine that makes you happy and eager to pick up your next great read from your beloved stack of books.
