June Reading Wrap Up 🤍

This month was truly all over the place 😂 From a disappointing interactive thriller to cowboy romances

The Dinner Party by Frieda McFadden

⭐ 1/5

I'm a huge fan of choose-your-own-adventure books, and yes, they can be cheesy. But I really thought this author would do something fun with the concept. Unfortunately, this one just didn't work for me.

The Daisy Chain Flower Shop

by Laurie Gilmore

⭐ 3/5

A cute read! I shared my full thoughts in my previous post, so be sure to check that out if you're curious.

Mile High

Liz Tomforde

⭐ 3/5

I had such a good time reading this one. I loved the romance trope, and the way Zanders showed up for Stevie had me smiling the entire book.

The Right Move

Liz Tomforde

⭐ 4/5

I love this it was such a fun read I really enjoy a good grumpy/sunshine I can’t and beat friends brother in the most uncomplicated way possible I will definitely have to continue the Windy City series I can’t wait to see who the next book is about

Cross Roads

Devney Perry

4/5 ⭐️

I loved this was incredible if you are in the mood for a a cowboy romance this is the best

Save a horse keep a cowboy

Jessica Peterson

2/5 ⭐️

would not recommend I was getting off the previous cowboy romance and this did nothing to continue the streak

Midnight Message

Avina St Graves

3.5/5 ⭐️

dark romance I don’t want to spoil it

* CHECK THE TRIGGERS *

Love me like you shouldn’t

Harper Bliss

F/F - This was my first book from this author I got this one from hoopla (thanks local library for expanding on queer books) I loved it such a fun read

The Dinner Party

Frieda McFadden

⭐ 1/5

The Daisy Chain Flower Shop

Laurie Gilmore

⭐ 3/5

The Right Move

Liz Tomforde

⭐ 4/5

Save a Horse, Keep a Cowboy

Jessica Peterson

2/5 ⭐️

Midnight Message

Avina st graves

⭐ 3.5/5

Romance oscuro. No quiero dar spoilers 😅

Love Me Like You Shouldn't

Harper Bliss

⭐ 3.5/5

F/F

... Read moreThroughout June, my reading journey was quite the rollercoaster, diving into genres ranging from interactive thrillers to cowboy romances. I particularly appreciate books that invite readers to choose their own path, which is why I was disappointed by "The Dinner Party" by Frieda McFadden. Although the choose-your-own-adventure format can sometimes be gimmicky, it offers a unique immersive experience when done well. This experience reminded me that not every attempt hits the mark, but it’s always interesting to see how different authors approach interactive storytelling. On the romance front, Liz Tomforde's "Mile High" and "The Right Move" brought some much-needed warmth and charm. The grumpy/sunshine trope in "The Right Move" was executed with simplicity yet captivating dynamics, making it a refreshing read. Particularly, the portrayal of Zanders supporting Stevie in "Mile High" left me smiling—a testament to how meaningful chemistry and well-developed characters can elevate romance novels. If you're in the mood for cowboy romances, "Cross Roads" by Devney Perry is an excellent choice. It’s packed with authentic emotions and compelling storytelling that kept me hooked till the very end. However, not all cowboy-themed reads hit the same notes; for instance, "Save a Horse, Keep a Cowboy" by Jessica Peterson didn’t maintain the excitement I hoped for, illustrating how short stories can sometimes feel rushed or underdeveloped. Diving into darker themes, "Midnight Message" by Avina St Graves presented a dark romance experience with nuanced triggers that readers should be aware of. I appreciated the atmospheric depth, though I’m cautious about spoiling any plot twists here. Lastly, expanding my reading horizons with "Love Me Like You Shouldn’t" by Harper Bliss was a delightful experience. As a first read from this author, especially sourced through my local library’s Hoopla collection which broadens access to queer stories, the F/F romance was fun and engaging, revealing the importance of diverse representation in literature. Overall, June’s varied reads reinforced the joy and occasional frustration of exploring different book genres. Each title offered something unique, whether it was a fresh trope, emotional depth, or a new perspective. For any fellow book lovers contemplating their next summer read, I’d recommend checking out the Windy City series and Devney Perry’s cowboy romance for guaranteed heartfelt stories. Happy reading!
