My favorite digicam 📷

I’ve been collecting these digicam since last year and I just love how the pictures turned out! Great for the summer. I try to only buy digicam that cost less $20 and all these three digicam are in the range 🫶🏻

Vivitar XX14

$10 (Mercari)

Pictures a little dark if taken indoor but still pretty aesthetic looking. Screen can be flip! ❤️

Vivitar DVR 426HD

$20 (Ebay)

Pictures turned out pretty nice and great for video Screen also can be flip which I really love 💜

Kodak Zi6

$12 (Ebay)

The best one out of the three in my opinion for both picture taking and videos 🩷

Vivitar cameras feel more like toys while the Kodak feels more like a real camera. Ebay, Mercari and FB Marketplace are good places to find some cheap but working digicam. Always try to offer and talk to the seller before buying them to make sure everything works! 💖

... Read moreOkay, so you've heard me rave about my budget digicam collection, but let's dive deeper into one of my absolute favorites: the Vivitar DVR 426HD. This little purple beauty, which I snagged for just $20 on eBay, really holds a special place in my heart – and my camera bag! What makes the Vivitar DVR 426HD so special, especially for its price point? First off, the image quality. While it's not going to rival your phone's camera in terms of crispness, that's exactly its charm! It delivers that perfect lo-fi, Y2K aesthetic we all love. The photos have a slightly muted, warm tone with a hint of grain, giving them an instant nostalgic feel. It truly captures moments with a unique, unpolished vibe that's hard to replicate with modern cameras. I've found it shines brightest in natural outdoor light, really making those summer memories pop. Even indoors, though a bit darker, it still adds a moody, aesthetic touch that I adore. But it's not just for photos! This camera really impressed me with its video capabilities. For a budget digicam, the video quality is surprisingly good for capturing short clips and vlogs. It records in 720p HD, which is more than enough to capture those candid, everyday moments with that desired retro look. The footage has a charming, slightly grainy texture that feels authentic and less "produced." I love using it to document my daily adventures or quick snippets of my friends and family. It’s perfect for creating those raw, unedited vlogs that feel like a true throwback. One of its standout features, which I absolutely adore, is the flip screen. This makes such a huge difference! Whether I'm trying to frame a selfie, record myself talking, or just get a tricky low-angle shot, being able to see what I'm capturing is incredibly handy. It transforms the camera from a simple point-and-shoot into a versatile tool for content creation, especially if you're into vlogging or just love seeing your own reaction shots. It’s surprisingly sturdy, too, which is a big plus for a camera in this price range. Seeing the purple casing and the screen open, often adorned with my favorite stickers, just adds to its personalized charm. If you're on the hunt for your own Vivitar DVR 426HD or other budget digicams, here are a few more tips based on my experience. Beyond Mercari, eBay, and FB Marketplace, keep an eye out at local thrift stores or even garage sales – you never know what gems you might unearth! When you're chatting with sellers, don't just ask if it works. Specifically inquire about the battery life, if it comes with a memory card, and what type of memory card it uses (often SD cards, but older models might use different types). Ask for a short video demo if possible, or clear photos of the screen powered on. Also, see if they can send a sample picture taken with the camera. This extra step can save you from disappointment. And remember, sometimes these cameras come with little quirks, like a slightly finicky battery door or a sticky button, but often those are part of their unique character and can be worked around. Honestly, for anyone looking to dip their toes into the digicam trend without breaking the bank, the Vivitar DVR 426HD is an excellent starting point. It offers a fantastic balance of retro aesthetic, decent performance for its category, and user-friendly features like that amazing flip screen, all while being incredibly affordable. It’s more than just a camera; it’s a tool for capturing memories with a distinctive, warm, and wonderfully imperfect feel.
