This confidence came from a combination of practice, awareness, and a love for cycling that overshadowed any fear. When I started learning to ride, my parents encouraged me to keep going despite minor wobbles and near falls. Most importantly, I learned how to control the bike at low speeds and balance carefully before trying to go fast. These foundational skills greatly reduced my chances of falling. Kids today can benefit from a gradual approach too: start with balance bikes or training wheels to build confidence, and then gradually move to two-wheelers. Wearing appropriate safety gear like helmets and knee pads helps reduce fear, making riding a safer and more enjoyable experience. Riding in familiar and safe environments, such as parks or quiet streets, can also help new riders gain confidence without the stress of traffic or obstacles. Additionally, watching green screen videos or tutorials online can provide useful tips and demonstrate proper techniques visually, which can be very motivating. Overall, cycling is a joyful and liberating activity. Remember, everyone’s experience differs, some may fall more than others, but perseverance and a positive mindset can make a huge difference. For me, never falling off has been a point of pride and a reflection of how much I trusted my abilities and loved riding since childhood.
