Pre-Nursing Update🎧ྀི☕📝

Hey future nurses! It’s so inspiring to see so many of us on this challenging yet rewarding path. If you're just starting out or wondering what 'pre-nursing' even means, let me share a bit more about this crucial phase before diving into nursing school. Essentially, pre-nursing isn't a degree itself, but rather a set of prerequisite courses you complete to meet the requirements for nursing school admission. Think of it as building your academic foundation! While everyone's exact path might differ, especially if you're taking pre-reqs at a community college, there are common nursing school classes you’ll likely encounter. Beyond just anatomy and physiology 2 and general chemistry 1 (which I'm currently tackling!), you'll often need courses like microbiology, college-level math such as Statical Methods I, English composition, psychology, and sometimes even Intro to sociology. These courses are designed to give you a strong scientific and humanitarian background, preparing you for the rigorous nursing curriculum. One of the biggest questions I had was, "how long until nursing school can I apply?" It really depends on how many pre-reqs you need and whether you're studying full-time or part-time. My own journey involves dedicating about a year to these final courses before I can submit my applications. It’s a marathon, not a sprint! Planning your course load carefully is key. But it's not just about academics! Many of you might be asking, "what to do before nursing school to truly stand out?" I’ve been thinking a lot about how to prepare me and elevate me for nursing school during this waiting period. Gaining hands-on experience through volunteering at hospitals or clinics, shadowing nurses, or even getting certified as a CNA can be incredibly beneficial. It not only looks great on your application but also helps you confirm nursing is the right path for you. Building strong study habits now will also pay dividends once you're in a demanding nursing program. Remember, every step, every class, every experience is bringing you closer to your dream.
